In answering the question of what stocks will benefit from a msft breakup, it may be worth speculating as to what parts msft will be divided into. I'll get it started: 1. consumer software (95/98(or 98 derivatives)/office/ie(ie circa 1999) etc) 2. business software (NT(or NT derivatives)/office/ie (ie circa 1999) etc) 3. MAC software (Mac office etc) 4. platform independent software (java, streaming audio/video) 5. development tools (VB/VC/java etc) 6. hardware 7. internet (ie circa 2000 onwards) As my knowledge of msft is limited, comments to the above list are appreciated.
