Microsoft Approves ViaGrafix Office 2000 Training

PRYOR, Okla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--August 11, 1999--ViaGrafix Corporation (Nasdaq:VIAX - news) a leading provider of technology-based IT training products and graphics software products announced that its ViaGrafix Office 2000 training suite has been accepted as Approved Courseware for the Microsoft Office User Specialist (MOUS) program, which establishes a global benchmark to validate users' skills for Microsoft Office desktop applications. The training has received authorization to bear the Microsoft Office User Specialist (MOUS) logo.

"ViaGrafix participated in the identification of possible MOUS Office 2000 objectives at the Microsoft exam workshop held in December 1998. We continued to work closely with Microsoft and their reviewers to ensure that exam objectives both taught and demonstrated Office 2000," said Mike Webster, ViaGrafix President and CEO. "ViaGrafix achieved Approved Courseware by teaching real world examples along with performance based exercises."

"The Microsoft Office User Specialist Independent Courseware Vendor program provides universal value to end-users, testing and training centers, and the academic marketplace by ensuring that courseware content maps directly to the associated exam," said Donna Senko, Director of Certification and Skills Assessment at Microsoft Corporation (Nasdaq: MSFT - news). Courseware such as ViaGrafix Approved Courseware, provides end-users with an effective technology based training option.

The ViaGrafix Office 2000 training suite contains 37 titles covering Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, FrontPage, Publisher, PhotoDraw and Windows 98 delivered via Internet, CD- ROM and video. The training ranges from introduction to advanced subjects. ViaGrafix training is based on real world examples and demonstrates how to perform multi-step tasks in an interactive environment giving users hands-on training.

ViaGrafix Office 2000 training suite includes exercises to encourage users to interact with the tutorial. All training includes a pre-assessment test, knowledge-building chapter quizzes, and a comprehensive proficiency test allowing users to monitor their progress. The tutorials are completely indexed to make it easy to maneuver within the tutorial.

A new feature called the ViaLab Exercise debuts in the ViaGrafix Office 2000 training suite. Five ViaLab Exercises are included at the end of each multimedia course. These exercises are similar to the actual MOUS exam, which require a learner to perform tasks using multiple commands in sequence. This will reinforce the user's learning experience.

In these multimedia courses, a learner begins by "playing" a lesson. After watching how a task is completed the users perform the actions themselves. This "interact" mode guides the learner with audio and yellow highlights on the screen so the learner understands what to do. Once the learners see how tasks are performed and go through the motions themselves, they are able to check their own knowledge with chapter quizzes and then the final test. The new ViaLab Exercise takes a user one step further by returning to the program simulation and giving the learner an exercise requiring many of the tasks they already learned. The ViaLab Exercise simulates the exam environment while validating the skills learned during the training.

Additional new features in the ViaGrafix Office 2000 training suite include:

o Closed Loop Learning: after taking a quiz or test, the learner can review the test and any questions they answered incorrectly. If the learner chooses to review the material after seeing the question they missed, they can click a button to review that topic.

o Certificates: The learner can print a certificate of completion after passing the final test.

o Installable Sample Files: The ViaGrafix Learning Files can be installed on the user's computer. With the learning files installed the user can have the actual program open and toggle (Alt + Tab) to it to practice on their own. The sample file allows the user to practice within a file they have used in the tutorial.

On June 7, 1999 (Nasdaq:LTWO - news) announced the signing of a contract to acquire ViaGrafix. The Companies have arranged meetings on August 23, 1999 for shareholder votes. These votes are expected to be the final steps in completing the acquisition.
