NXP Semiconductors was spun off from Philips this year. NXP provides mixed signal solutions and semiconductor components. It offers small signal, power, and integrated discretes; mobile device speakers and receivers; amplifiers; bipolar transistors; data converters; microcontrollers; sensors; and thyristors. The company's products find applications in wireless, lighting, home appliances, industrial, mobile telecommunication, automotive, security, television, and electronics sectors.
As an Engineer, I just love their stuff and frequently land on their page when Googling discrete components. NXP also has a bit of that "magic stuff" right now... the upcoming Nexus S smartphone will feature NXP's chips to facilitate near field communications (NFC).
Mod Disclosure: As of Oct 14 2010, I'm long.
