RateXchange, based in San Francisco, is a business-to-business e-commerce company providing a vertical marketplace for the telecommunications industry. RateXchange currently provides Web-based ''lead generation'' for US domestic and international telephony traffic, private lines and market information services for more than 4,000 members.
Through its Real-Time Bandwidth eXchange (RTBX), a switch-based commodity exchange for telecommunications capacity, expected to be fully implemented in late 1999, carriers and Internet service providers will have the ability to interconnect and trade voice and data capacity as well as emerging bandwidth applications such as Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) telephony.
RateXchange was named one of the ''Top 25 Hot Startups of 1998'' according to Data Communications magazine, and is recognized as a leader in the rapidly emerging bandwidth exchange industry.
RateXchange is a wholly owned subsidiary of NetAmerica.Com Corporation (OTC Bulletin Board: NAMI), an Internet services company seeking to become a premier provider of business-to-business Internet, data and e-commerce services and applications.
Apparently, this company competes in the same space as Arbinet, a B2B holding of Internet Capital Group (ICGE), and Min-X.com, a similar virtual commodities market for voice over IP.
Given the enormous valuations for other B2B companies (many trading at over 80 times forward sales!), have we discovered a ground-floor opportunity with NAMI? A spinoff could unlock the tremendous value of this B2B holding.
