Research In Motion Limited (RIM), is a multinational corporation serving the Diversified Communication Services Industry and is headquartered in Waterloo (Ontario), Canada. On January 30 2013, and effective that day, Research In Motion (RIM) announced that the Company would operate around the world under the iconic name BlackBerry. The legal name of the company has not yet changed but the Company will do business as BlackBerry until shareholders vote for the official change at the Company's Annual General Meeting which will be held in July 2013.

Formerly RIM stock was traded on NASDAQ as RIMM and on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) as RIM. On Monday, February 4, 2013, the Company commenced trading under its new ticker symbols “BB” on The Toronto Stock Exchange and “BBRY” on the NASDAQ Global Select Market.

RIM is a designer, manufacturer, and marketer of wireless solutions for the worldwide enterprise and prosumer/consumer mobile wireless communications market. Through the development of integrated hardware, software and services that support multiple wireless network standards, RIM provides platforms and solutions for seamless access to time-sensitive information including email, phone, short message service (SMS) messaging, content, Internet and intranet-based applications. RIM technology also enables an array of third party developers and manufacturers to enhance their products and services with wireless connectivity to data. RIM’s portfolio of products, services and embedded technologies are used by organizations and individuals worldwide and include the BlackBerry® wireless device and server solution, software development tools, and other software and hardware. RIM operates offices in North America, Europe and Asia Pacific.

In fiscal 2013, RIM's revenues from devices & service decreased 40% YoY to $11.1 Billion USD from $18.4 Billion in FY 2012 which was down 7% from $19.9 Billion in FY 2011. In FY 2013 RIM posted a GAAP net loss from continuing operations of ($628 million USD), or ($1.20 per share), down from a profitable $1.2 billion USD, or $2.22 per share diluted in FY 2012 which was down from $3.4 Billion or $6.34 per diluted share in FY 2011. The number of BlackBerry® handheld devices shipped in FY 2013 decreased by approximately 20.9 million(-42.7% YoY), to approximately 28.1 million in fiscal 2013, compared to approximately 49.0 million in fiscal 2012.
