I'm surprised that there has been no discussion in SI of fine art as an investment. I have read that masters paintings have been historically a better investment over the last hundred years than stocks, although it is pretty clear that for the past 10 years that the art market has been dead while stocks have soared. One of the problems I have encountered is the difficulty in getting information as to bottom line market prices.

Wine is already making a comeback, and I have noticed prices of even recent vintages of port have been skyrocketing.

Collectables can be everything from Turkish rugs to baseball cards to Beatles memorabalia.

And please, no discussion of anything related to Franklin Mint.
