Hi thread, My husband just got the call for Red Cross deployment. He'll be part of the "on the ground" force that will meet evacuees from Hurricane Rita, now apparently a force five hurricane. He'll be briefed tomorrow about the location, will be flown down either tomorrow night or Friday. Frankly, the last two weeks, since he completed training, have been nerve-wracking. He'd planned to start unpacking his gear tonight, thinking he wasn't going to be called. We're nervous, but glad the ARC is now thinking out of the box in terms of assembling volunteers to address evacuees' immediate needs. I'll let you know more as I do.
