Yes..... but my point was why didn't analysts adjust their expectations to reflect that fact ie anything close to $40B would've been a meet not a beat! I see. I was only talking about Apple's guidance for the current quarter. It's more common for them to guide below analyst estimates than to guide above them. There has been a lot of wailing and gnashing of teeth on this thread when that has happened in the past. For the past quarter, I think analysts had convinced themselves that the guidance model was changing under Tim Cook, given the fact that guidance for the December quarter had been quite a bit higher than what the Street had been calling for.
