If you enjoy baseball and football, you haven't experienced them until you have a 40 inch flatscreen with a good sound system. The sound is actually more important to watching than the picture.

If your hearing is OK, but you cannot hear your TV clearly, then the TV sound system may need to be upgraded.

Another thing to consider is acoustic reflections. The TV sound produces waves that bounce off everything and then land in your ear. Waves will take different paths and get to your ears at different times, causing a distortion.

You can try changing the position of where you sit. You can also dampen your acoustic environment by adding rugs and drapes.

Study the large flat surfaces between you and the TV and think about the reflections that can occur and try to eliminate them.

Good Luck.

PS. I'm with Lindy on the value of good audio. Invest in it and Enjoy it while you can.
