Interesting that you should post a link to a Housing Authority.
This past week I spoke to the directors of 2 local HA's in regards to section 8 investment property. It seems that as the economy slows and foreclosures pile up the demand for subsidized housing, especially for the elderly is ramping up fast. Waiting lists are getting longer every week.
The problem I heard from both directors isn't that there isn't enough available housing....it's sitting there vacant. They also have lists of "approved" families in dire need.
The problem is the agencies are out of funds and can't function unless more cash is released to them. They can't issue any section 8 vouchers without the cash to pay the landlords. The funding comes from HUD....
I'm sure this whole mess makes sense to somebody.....
