I think ETFs will be the wave of the future, but read this: marketwatch.com

It basically says that new ETFs may indicate a market high, because they are created when there is a buying frenzy in the sector, just when the market is peaking. I don't know how true it is, but it seems plausible, at least for some ETFs.
