Tulvio, fibre channel switches are used external to storage products and servers, as they are used to interconnect those boxes in SANs. The servers are connected by fiber optic cables to input ports of the fibre channel switches, and storage boxes are connected to output ports, also by fiber. What people may be confusing with fibre channel switches are HBAs (host bus adapters). These are PCI to fibre channel protocol conversion cards that are made to fit into slots inside servers or storage boxes. HBA vendors are Emulex, Q-Logic, and others. Not so sure about EMC, but Brocade's website does list EMC as an OEM partner, as well as Compaq, Dell, IBM and a whole bunch more. Not sure if EMC resells Brocade switches like Compaq does. If you really need to know, guy named Gus on the EMC thread knows everything there is to know about EMC, plus about a thousand more things.
