Mark,

I have to tell you that my own person experience has been with businesses and not residential. I have seen degradation that can distort the way that information is sent (over wireless). I happen to sell data communications for a living and know for a fact that the big customers that order the most bandwidth will not rely on wireless unless its sole purpose is used for back-up. Today in Tier 1 cities most large companies buildings are lit with at least 3 carrier (mfs,tcg,bell...) and wireless is not a consideration (and by the way it is possible somebody can pick up your conversation over wireless which is taboo for banks or any company discussing secure information). It is the mid size companies that are more apt to consider wireless but there are a lot of outages that take place. Price then become the biggest consideration. Let's face it, even the rain can make a difference.

Not to say that wireless is not good for residential accounts and dialing up to the internet but not for "local loops". Not yet. Who knows..maybe a 2 or 3 years?? I find sometimes buzz words are what they are called "buzz words" for a few years. ATM was a buzz word for years before any companies were actually using it for their networks and still today it is just becoming popular.

A lot of this comes from personal experience as well as feedback I have received from some big customers that feel call the shots to some degree.
