Am an interested reader of this link and a radiologist in Canada.
Frankly, this company has a limited future from my point of view.
1) Health care reform in Canada has not been receptive to the idea of sector control 2) The industry is regulated tightly and fees could drop unexpectedly 3) What DCE has grown on are old or supplemental clinic sites seen as redundant or owned by soon to be retired rad's
4) The culture in radiology is one of fierce independence and owner operations with the bulk of regulation, service, teaching (new rads), hospital contracts etc controlled by large partnerships. Unlikely to sell out and become employees.5) Efficiences of operation are not a new thing; see the cooperative developing in Ontario amongst rads; the basic strategy here is to salary the pro's and coopt their earnings 5)Convincing new recruits to join the DCE fold as salaried employees will be an Achille's heel for them when they have so many options and are in short supply.
