Amylin (AMLN) had an interesting day today. The stock closed 22 % higher than yesterday for no specific or obvious reason. The volume was moderate. The stock has a very interesting short position. In the middle of September there were around 10 million shorted shares out of a total free float of abt. 38 m. A sizeable position with other words. I don't think there has been much covering since. Within this week the company should have information from FDA with regard to Symlin. An approvable letter will most probably be considered as a positive. As the market has effectively written off the prospects for the drug after (or rather before considering the large short interest) the advisory committee meeting end July. Ice
