woody,

i see pat got you covered,

that is the best way to scan back days, but it requires you to put in a variable for the bar, then you can change it on the fly and also backtest

hope all is well

I've been downloading data from QuotesPlus for years.

All of a sudden I get the following message and am stopped dead in my tracks from either getting the data or viewing the charts: Error:33
Failed to initialize database objects

Anybody familiar with this and what to do about it?

Timba

Call them up or e-mail them. I seem to remember it means you need to get a new disk and reload the data.
ciao,

TB,

I've been using QP since 1997, and never had your message.
Call/email Janine. This is their problem.

I never had that error but when I do have problems what I usually do is delete my data files and then copy a good backup back to the data file. Usually the update goes OK after that. Of course if you don't have a backup that isn't going to help. I've been backing up my data files every couple of days now for the last year. Saved my a$$ a few times. Just my 2 cents worth

Thanks all for the feedback.

I had my most recent data CD from QP (08/02/02) that I used to reinstall. After several attempts and needing to "sleep on it" it finally finished updating the data this morning. Looks OK for now.

I thought I would have to call for a new CD, but maybe not now.

By the way, I had done a back-up. The most recent was in June, 2004 (just a home PC). When I went to copy the data from the backup.....I found my 'puter wouldn't read the CD, so now I have to figure that out and make another back-up.

Yeehaaw!

Thanks again,

Timba

I have been a QP user for 7 years. In that time, I have not backed up. My files have become corrupted maybe 4 times.
I called and got a new cd within 3-4 days at most.

This always fixed all problems. The effort to stay DEPENDABLY backed up, does not make sense to me. I have frequently had trouble with CDs when I needed them.

I don't back up to CD's either. To much time involved. I did find a nice backup utility (freeware) called Cobian backup that I use to backup my QP data files and other stuff on a regular basis to a second hard drive. After you set it up it just automatically backs up whatever and whenever you want. For me it works really nice.

Long ago, someone posted here a QP scan called "Mega-Trend". I have it and haven't used it in ages. For some reason, the descriptive info that came with it is missing.

Can someone tell me just what this scan does, how do I use it, etc. The one note I have with it says to output the results of the scan into Excel for sorting. Sort on what? Then what? TIA

Anybody have a problem with Saturday's download. It tries to Compact database and then I get message to close any other programs that are using Quotes Plus. I don't have any running so that isn't the problem.
