this might help a bit

[Satellite TODAY 10-20-11] The four-year-long effort to send ViaSat’s high-throughput, all Ka-band satellite ViaSat-1 into orbit ended successfully and on schedule as International Launch Services (ILS) launched the spacecraft Oct. 19 with no apparent problems, the launcher confirmed.
The satellite launched from Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on a Proton M rocket during clear and chilly temperatures in the low 40s. The launch was originally scheduled for Spring 2011, but was pushed back to the end of summer. The mission was delayed a second time when a solar array onboard the Telstar 14R satellite failed to fully deploy following its launch in May.
With a capacity estimated at 140 Gbps – more than all other Internet satellites over North America combined – ViaSat-1 aims to provide high-capacity Ka-band spot beam satellite with planned coverage over North America and Hawaii, along with high-speed broadband services for WildBlue in the United States and Xplornet in Canada.

Hello All

KVH was working on precision pointing of Mortars, and possibly this contract will bring some of that business.

Earnings are out:

finance.yahoo.com

Military (Crows) slowing,Tac Nav backlog for next quarter is good.

VSAT growing better with better margins and a deal with Live tv for 3 years with revenue sharing.

Forwatd guidance in line.

Bought back 282,000 shares this quarter.

Seems to be on track but business is tough out there - especially for military defense companies.

Plus for KVH

LiveTV service agreement, share buyback, Vsat growing nicely, TavNav picking up again, FOGs being fit into more programs.

Minus for KVH

Crows11

2012 looking better.

Crows II is a negative compared to what it was in 2010.

Keeping a longer perspective - it is just one more defense project that Kvhi is built into.

I can remember when the only defense project was Tac Nav for tanks!

Defense projects are granular in nature.

The key to resolving the up and down of defense is to have many small projects.

The Lockheeds and LLL went through consolidation years ago.

Vsat is the one enabling technology that will add stability.

In 2012 each quarter,Vsat revenue will compound.

I suspect we are at breakeven with Fogs of all kinds being the profit.Live TV,Tac Nav,IMU's and Fogs in general are a continuing growth technology.

2000 subscribers next quarter ?

Subscriber growth is inevitable as Vsat provides savings and superior service all at the same time.

Even in tough economic times growth exists - few compnies have this story.

The market will reward this.

Thnik our 5-10 years where Kvhi will be the AOL of the maritime communications.

Then envision how many UAV's will constantly be streaming data for border patrol terrorist monitoring and private/sovereign security.

Buy it cheap - throw it in a drawer and forgetaboutit.

Hi Bob

Have to wait for the CC, but some nice positives mentioned in morning announcement.

One thing I have been following is insider buying in open market.

Mr. Dodez stepped up to the plate with about 15,000 shares. Surprised at this price that there hasn't been more by insiders or directors.
