Greetings Thread!

I'll be participating now and in the future. I have completed my DD and opened my position. I will continue to Accumulate shares in KVHI knowing that the fact of KVHI's patents covering the auto tracking of satellites in a moving vehicle represents a cog in a wheel of an explosive market.

Yesterdays press release by Gilat and MS falls directly into our sphere and provides a forward looking view at who our future service providers might be. If gilat accelerates deployment of 2 way higher power systems we will have the birds we need to facilitate the mobile market with our tracking units providing the multiplier for these birds.

As it stands the MS Gilat deal describes their initiative to bring signals to a rural market, thats fine, but it simply does not scale the same as the mobile market.

I look for the true value in Gilat / MS deal to serve the mobile Inet/ video market as being the reason behind this deal. Most hopeful that this little company will have the willingness to recognize the value here and make it happen.

G'day all - I took a small position this morning. Financials are ok. Potentials are great. Still not being discovered. The wireless patent is a great ticket, but the evolution of its fiber optics group may be of potential

best, B

dvdw and Bosco,

Welcome to KVH. I'll look forward to your participation... we need help keeping the blood circulating on this thread.

KVH does seem to be in a sweet spot with its mobile antenna. If the patent infringement is upheld, they will be the sole provider of the reception for mobile vehicle. Developments with the automakers can't be too far off. The news from the auto show last night include comments about in-vehicle (including Bob's Harley) internet becoming the norm in the next couple of years. I think it will take some work on the size of the current unit, but it appears KVH should be in line for a share of the market.

Also, AOL has an investment in GMH that may lead to some business for KVH. All this and a $1B+ current sensor market waiting to be tapped...

Good luck with our investment,

Regards,

Roy

Thanks Ray,

Correct me if I am wrong but GMH satellite is only a one way ticket isnt it?

Gilat is said to have the power of two way, but it makes further sense that MS will follow or lead AOL, as they are across the board competitors for future revenue streams.

Looking forward to a great future for KVHI!

Hi Bosco, we haven't crossed paths for over two years, when I was in MADGF as were you.

I too have taken an initial position here. I like the patents and the R&D about to pay off. The potential for substantial military contracts isn't bad either.

I went to the Chicago auto show a couple days ago and not one conversion van had mobile Internet, although all had TVs in them, but not satellite links. I think this company is right in the path of the future.

I may buy more but I'm still getting up to speed here right now.

Hi SI - good to hear from you. I agree with you. Judging from the company bio and history, it should at least have enough contracts from the old lines to keep it going. So everything else is extra. Of course, I reckon some of its potentials are now being price into the stock, but I think it is in the 2nd inning at most :).

I actually see beyond conversion van. Considering now parents are outfitting mini vans - and who knows, maybe SUVs soon - with VCRs as hi tech child pacifiers :), I see a good chance of scaling up. Another angle is that of the navigational system. Before I took the position - albeit a bit too early - I also noticed that Mr Trimble has also taken a board seat. I don't have TRMB, but I think the synergy of these companies can be quite a potent brew!

The only unknown is that I see KVH is the initial of the founder, who is 83 [?] The 2nd in command seems to be a relative. So, this can be a good thing as much as it can be an obstacle for us investors.

best, Bosco

Thanks for the post Bosco, the Trimble Navigation appointment to the board is important, thanks for mentioning this.

Heres another article on the MS Gilat deal:
multichannel.com

Article mentions another 2 way vendor, we need to monitor these for certain.

Another area is RF semiconductor Power amplifiers for the eq. this could be huge, we need to find the RF power amplifier suppliers specializing in this segment.RFMD is one but there are many new guys with specialty tech to fit the bill.

The entry or targeting of 10 million base by MS is not to be believed IMO. There is something else going on, and perhaps we have the answer.MS likes scale, they don't mess with small markets this trial is but the first volley in a snipers paradise. Keep your eyes open.

I agree with Bosco that we are in early, the transition will take time to play out we need to monitor 13G filings on EDGAR. Every day though we are closer to LT capital gain status.

Interesting statistical post I found while browsing other threads.

Trends are important for all tech investors to be aware of.

While Mobile Internet is not even mentioned, anyone should be able to see that a world getting increasingly hooked on Internet access at home and work is going to want it while on the move or while camping too.

Also this post, which I have not thoroughly reviewed yet. Anyone here care to comment on this?

I also found this post, which mentions Wi-Lan and CSCO wireless in the middle of the post. Is this Wi-Lan technology competition here just in urban areas or what?
