Me thinks that the market is setting up some kind of capitulation event, you see heavy use of the short tool in KVHI, there is a possibility that old gaps are the magnets against a very negative market churn which is in process. It's apparent that Mr Market is stalking the bulls, especially those with margin setting up for a negative surprise. I see the weak ending poorly creating the Santa Clause rally that wasnt.

Remember, I watch a basket of companies with similar characteristics, hence the conditions are without exception working their way through all the charts. The stocks are very volume sensitive, when new shorts come in, like we are seeing now, that is pretty high risk low reward, so there must be some size they think they can get.

Hi dvdw,

We are right on a change of market event.

NAZ is on its 50 day ma.

Dow and S&P are actually below by a day or two.

Russell is still above by a few points.

Major transition points almost always violate - but it can't go on more than 2-3 days.

We still could be seeing a big headfake but I don't like the way banks look.Unless that too is a headfake - and that's very possible too.

We're in prewarnings period and most earnings are really better than expected - the worst is over.

We may well get a set back and any dips should be bought.

I'm thinking this is a bear trap set up more than a failed bull rally.

MANY stocks show Balance of Power to have maintained a positive reading and this is a major change of character from the last 2-3 years.

As I type, the NAZ futures are approaching fairvalue.

This is a do or die time.

KVHI will have three potentially breakout announcements within 30 days:
1)a second quarter in the black
2)low profile antennae -I hope @ CES on 1/9/03
3)Needham update on KVHI

Any dip is a shake out of weak holders.

Most new members here need to know that during the bubble this little company struggled off of 1 and never participated in the bubble.

The ownership of this stock is extremely strong.I'm not sure we're seeing shorting here - I don't know how to identify it.

We may just be seeing some momo investor getting cold feet as the general market looks weak as it back and fills.

I think any stock being sold can /will be absorbed by the growing list of institutions that have taken strong positions in this company recently.

Shorting this strongly held stock is a great way to get your head handed to you.

Can you imagine being wrong and trying to cover??

No - shorts are chasing the liquid stocks - I think we're seeing the weaker hands getting nervous.

BWDIK

Thanks for the offsetting POV, my comments are a reflection of specific effects on trading occurring across my SIP portfolio, I dont watch indexes much nor the entire universe of equities. Therefore what I see is very specific to a basket of Thinly traded stocks, they are hair trigger volume trend indicators and all are suggesting an ugly trade. If you dont think the Short tool is working hard here, well watch because it is, more so than any time in recent history. They seem to be taking a big risk, so there must be a capitulation event they are targeting.Hope I am wrong mind you, and it has nothing at all to do with fundamentals.

I will stalk the bear whose stalking the bull, but I have my eye on some gaps open on the chart which are most likely the magnets for the present action.

Hi dvdw,

opposing thoughts are what make a thread great.

This thread has a wonderful group of fundamental and techie minded participants.

Trade related activity is a missing ingredient and your comments are greatly welcomed and needed.

I think bears bying into a sequntially third quarter of earnings improvement are newbie momo shorts and welcome their need to by KVHI when it does finally breakout of what appears to be a right side of a cup being built (or handle and failed breakout at 8.00.

In the past 8.00 served as a ceiling with the exception of fast breakouts which failed.

This last climb over 8.00 was a much slower and controlled ascent.

I think that 8.00 holding support will speak great things for KVHI.

It should be tested and it must hold for this rise to be considered strong enough for 10 1/2 to 11 1/2 to be challenged with a handle and ultimately a breakout on high volume.

This investor gets excited as I see the price action develop.

I can be patient for the world to learn about this great company - if it gets weak from the shorts - I'll just oblige them and get me some more.ggg

Thanks for your read - it is valued.

Well that sure put the floor in @ 8.25.

That lonely 500 block at 8.25 just stayed there till I fell asleep watching.

Now some high roller shows up grabs another 1400 @ 8.25 and has a voracious appetite for 3200 more.

Bid /ask changed from 8.16 - 8.25 to 8.25-8.44.

Love it NO SELLERS and buyers must ante up.

I sure don't want to be short this little jewel.gggg
