Good Morning Roy,

Well just 1 or 2 sales off of Trac Net should pay for the ticket over to Europe.

The more I see of Trac Net - the more this becomes a must have for all commercial boats. The capability of 5 crew members talking daily to their families has to be huge.

Once you've had it - You'd need it.

On the other hand -if you were on a cruise - one Trac Net would allow you to charge 5 users at a cyber cafe. Not sure if cruises have another alternative already, but if not todays kids must be bored stiff - if their is no internet capability for FIVE WHOLE DAYS.gg

Does anybody know if cruises have this or is this a potential market??

I can't stand cruises as they are populated over feeding bores to me.

JMHO

Bob

This news is great as Trac Net is a high margin product.

Hi Bob,

Nice news on an existing product. An in-fill PR till the meat arrives. An hors oeuvre, if you will.

Hi Again Roy,

You know we kind of write off telecom, but here's proof there are some neat advancements still occurring:http://www.usatoday.com/tech/news/techinnovations/2002-11-18-bonus-glimmerglass_x.htm

And they did it with only 25 million - Makes kvhi look thrifty.

No doubt the capability of switching is a huge step towards the "total fiber optic system".

Throw in a fast modulator and photons have have made a huge step toward the irreversible replacement of electrons.

I can't help but think Intel will make huge acquisitions in this sector - and at today's lows hmmm

I guess it is JUST way TOO FAR OFF in time.

Existing product? Not really. Oh, sure we already had TracNet, and Version 2.0 for the Caribbean and Alaska was announced two weeks ago.

But take a closer look. This is a new satellite being used to open up the European market. Hardly a fill-in P/R. Why do you think they are at the METS show? This opens another very large market for KVH - both for boats, and perhaps RVs too soon.

<< Broadband Internet data provided by Xantic is available throughout Europe, the Mediterranean, and parts of the North Sea, Black Sea, and northern Africa. The broadband signal is received by any of KVH's Digital Video Broadcast (DVB)-compatible TracVision satellite TV antennas. These award-winning, fully stabilized marine satellite TV antennas offer access to both the broadband Internet downloads as well as more than 300 channels of digital TV and audio entertainment, news, sports, weather, and business information.>>

Also note the higher 512Kbps speed here.

HI Sector,

I'm wondering if Martin can sweet talk Xantic into letting their European arm resell the satellite subscription as an exclusive.

Afterall they've modeled the capability brilliantly. At no additional expense they can sell subscriptions world wide via web billing and stand to double their reoccurring monthly revenue.

This is a awesome thought - What multiple would you place on the exclusive global internet satellite provider??

AOL did pretty good in the beginning NO??

It is so powerfull a thought - it makes one wonder what recent fund just joining your list of fund holdings is a schill for Gates or Allen.gg

Just dreaming - remember where you heard it first.<VBG>

Wondering if that Model T image I posted will be good or bad for KVHI...?

The answer is from KVH Yahoo Thread; AS a Poster wanted to know if it was good or bad for us.

The Reply.................

This archetecture Expands the potential of KVHI exponentialy. Make no mistake.

Even if this company fails to bring the system on line, someone else will. It is so logical as to be a given. The numbers I've seen for stationary Payloads in upper atmosphere beat any other system architecture hands down. Remember Space Occupied has no cost, because it isnt owned by anyone.

Satellite or High atmospheric Infrastructure ...it does not matter a twit to KVHI. KVHI Gyros would communicate as they do now probably with minimal changes.

The Phased array R&D could be huge under this umbrella, and will be necessary for directing the energy/data stream to a predeterimined point.

The Patents also may play a role in any architecture.

I can just see KVHI MEMS gyro ( Lower Cost) in every laptop...LOL

Lastly, one has to credit the leader of this company for having the BALLS to make such an announcement, when absolutely no one else ever mentions it. That usually means this is truly important.
