I checked with KVH about the two Inmarsat numbers. The 210,000 number appears to be a 2000 year end number, while the 240,000 is a 2001 year end number, which they only recently obtained. So the growth in Inmarsat terminals averaged 2,500 per month during 2001.

Must be considered a plus - when it comes to accelerating the second source status for supplying FOGS and IMU's for the JDAM acceleration build rate!

Great news - towards high margins and HUGE sales.

To all on thread,

Nice bubbling up on price today.

There has been large size on the bid all day today. It appears that supply is drying up.

Now all we need is a little healthy bidding action and this little sleeper will awaken.

A nice pop up to 11 1/2 with a 7-11 day handle that comes down to 9 1/2 on light volume.

Then announce earnings in the black and light a high volume break out on earnings day.

Hey everybody needs a dream!! gg

I was waiting for new and hoping to still get post #1300. Got it! (with the market down, we have to take what little gratification we can get) <g>

KVH earnings are on 7/18 pre-market and CC is 11:30 EDT.

Needham's projections for Q2 are for a major top line leap of $12.0 million and a bottom line loss of $0.03.

That $12 million represents a 24.5% increase over Q1, which itself was the highest quarter ever for KVHI.

In these poor market conditions that would be a simply awesome achievement.

That loss of $0.03 represents only about $330,000.

Needham's projections are for R&D to peak at $2.3 million in Q2, dropping to $1.5 million in Q3 and $1.3 million in Q4. The actual amount of R&D expense they post will control the size of the loss. With the Fleetwood win at the beginning of the month (which couldn't have been fully factored in back in April), they may have a bit of cushion for the top line.

Conceivably, if R&D comes in a bit lower, and the top line a bit higher, we could see a breakeven quarter. While that would be nice, it may not be high on their priority list. I'll keep my fingers crossed anyway.

Hi Sector,

Some questions:

Did that forecast include the military pushout from Q1.

Did not management say that R&D had already peaked - I thought I recall that.

Last quarter the price push to 6 was the result of insider selling and pushing the price.

If by small miracle they are in the black management may not be selling the options and hold them for the announcement and expected price appreciation.

So far I don't see the push to sell like last quarter was.

Just dreaming but I can taste this little winner being in the black. When that happens - I'm going to be buying the handle that builds at the top of the cup 11 3/8 ish.

<<Did that forecast include the military pushout from Q1.>>

Yes. The original Needham projections were for Q1 to be $1M higher and Q2 $1M lower. So the 24.5% revenue jump was artificially created by the pushout into Q2.

<<Did not management say that R&D had already peaked - I thought I recall that.>>

I think they initially said that in Q4, but the wording changed in the Q1 CC, extending the R&D a bit. Needham's earlier projection for Q2 was for R&D of $1.7M and a profit of $0.04. That changed to the current numbers after the last CC. You can review the text of the Q1 CC using the link in the thread header.

Minor correction. There were THREE Needham reports issued this year, one in January and 2 in April.

The January one had Q2 revenue at $10.9M, R&D at $1.6M and breakeven EPS.
The first April one had Q2 revenue of $12.0M, R&D at $1.7M and profit of $0.04.
The lastest revision, after the CC had $12M, $2.3M and a loss of $0.03.

So it all depends on what R&D they actually post.
