ERTS - will announce stock split soon - right before the big cycle of video games (notice no insider sales since August!)

ERTS paid too much for the Potter license however...

I heard that it was an astonishing amount. How many games do they have to sell before they're break even? I like what NewKidCo did when they won the E.T. license, and the marketing blitz to come will probably be massive, if the past is any indication of what Spielberg will do for the 20th anniversary release this March. But what I like best of all, is that NKCIF is selling for fifty-five cents a share... in a BIG BOY'S market. The upside from here looks too good to miss out on.

Director, Traditionally these game stocks sell off after the Christmas season and become buys around early Feb. Would you be selling ERTS at this level? I see Thqi and a couple other game stocks are starting to sell off a bit this week. Will ERTS avoid the traditional selling? Your advice would be appreciated here! Sincerely, Steve D.

The new pullout section will include some of our existing technology coverage, such as Mark Veverka's excellent Plugged In column from San Francisco and The Electronic Investor, a column that guides readers through the plethora of online services, software and Websites meant to help investors. We've added a new column, called Tech Trader, to be authored by Senior Editor Bill Alpert. In Bill's inaugural column this week, you'll find some information we're sure you didn't know about accounting techniques used by high-priced electronic-game companies such as Electronic Arts, Activision and Take-Two Interactive. You can expect their stock prices to move lower Monday morning in reaction to Bill's revelations.

Who has the license for E.T.? I've seen a lot of advertising for the 20th aniversary release in March. It seems that the PS2 and X-Box licenses would be valuable. Is it E.A.?

Gohm,

You've made some great calls, congratulations. How would you play this as a short given that ERTS is joining the S&P 500.

Thanks for any insight.

thx IA,

ERTS joining S&P 500 has no relevance to me... all i know is that i'm going to cover some at 50's, 40's, then most at 30's.

i always keep 3-10% of original short positions to keep me interested even if it falls to single digits.
