hi dave. i hope you are right about the numbers. the low volume sort of makes the ta on the chart look like its set for a rapid rise. It does seem od that the company doesnt reduce the float at these prices.. or do they need to announce that they are.. also i wonder as to insider buying.. if there is none then i would wonder why not..

Toys "R" Us to create exclusive postseason shop

Major League Baseball Properties and Toys "R" Us Times Square have partnered to turn the store’s Windows on Broadway feature shop into an exciting, interactive and product-filled Major League Baseball shop to coincide with the 2002 post-season. The special MLB-themed shop in the Toys "R" Us international flagship store is currently open and will remain in place throughout the month of October.

The shop features a large selection of MLBP licensed products and will be the venue for a variety of Major League Baseball events, including interactive games and competitions, player appearances and autograph signings. The design of the of Major League Baseball shop will contain imagery from the Superhuman advertising campaign, which uses super hero-style caricatures of players as they embark on a quest to determine who will "wear the ring."

"We are very excited about this retail partnership with Toys "R" Us Times Square," said Howard Smith, senior vice president of licensing for Major League Baseball Properties. "October is the time when the spotlight focuses on the road to the World Series Championship, and the Windows on Broadway shop is another great stage for Major League Baseball during this all-important month."

"What better place than The Center of the Toy Universe for families to visit for exciting events during the hottest time of the year in baseball," said Greg Staley, president, Toys "R" Us, U.S. "Our Windows on Broadway shop in Toys "R" Us Times Square provides a great showcase for Major League Baseball products and our partnership."

Along with the large selection of Major League Baseball products in the shop, Toys "R" Us Times Square will host a MLB player appearance with Don Mattingly (Former New York Yankees first baseman) on Oct. 17.

Some of the interactive features of the shop include video game kiosks featuring official Major League Baseball-licensed video games. Acclaim will have representatives on-site to coach and host a competition of its game, All-Star Baseball 2003. In addition, several MLBP licensees will host in-store games and competitions including Topps Pack Wars, Upper Deck Collation and Collecting Games, Fleer Card Flipping, and Donruss Challenge.

The "Windows on Broadway" MLB Shop will be supported with advertising in a special arrangement with the New York Daily News. There will be exclusive advertising for the "Windows on Broadway" Major League Baseball Shop in the paper, and the Daily News will run a reader sweepstakes with two season tickets for the New York Yankees 2003 season as the grand prize. Also as part of the sweepstakes official Major League Baseball merchandise will be given as prizes to the grand prize winner, 100 first prize and 200 second prize winners.

David,

The same place gave Onimusha 2 only a 90% rating. Aren't they going to sell 3-4 million. I think BO2 is going to do pretty well. I just wish it was coming for the Cube.

I am surprised by the lack of serious promotion here in the U.S. so far and it has me scratching my head. Considering that they have stated that Burnout 2 will be "exclusive to Playstation 2", and considering how good it makes the PS2 look, I am wondering they plan some sort of bundle like they did with GT3 last year.

Also notice in the link that IGN is running a "deal of the day" with BMX XXX. Interesting with a month to go. I wonder how it will do.

Dave,

A few thoughts on advertising. First I think they know they have a very good game with Burnout 2. The reviews have been excellent. The true gamers who are ordering right out of the shoot do not need advertising to go buy. The game will sell itself to the true gamers. Now the second point is that the true selling season starts more with Christmas sales. I would guess the best time to spend advertising money is in November when people are buying presents. Makes sense to me.

Maria,

The week before they had a Turok ad. My guess is we will see all the new Acclaim games showing up in the ads over the next few months. Would be a good time for the Baseball Game to show up in a weekend ad.
