Broderbund has great products but i think it will go back down
as people will dump after the EDMK hype.

Then probably back to 40 after years end.

You are probably right,
But with IBM stating they are targeting educational market, what a great target BROD is. With IBMs stock so high, a stock swap could easily be done with minimual effects on IBMs bottom line. BTW, I don't own any of BROD.

IBM doesn't do stock swaps they pay cash. Also it is very rare for IBM to buy any companies they have a tradition of internal growth. Lotus was an exception.

In case everyone's been asleeep, Broderbund made it's first "official" announcement about when the sequal to Myst, called "Riven," will be released. They are targeting summer of '97. That leaves little doubt that it will be well in the pipe by late fall for the Christmas shopping season. (Like I'm going to wait that long!)

Let's see: 2 million sequel purchases' x $25 per copy...

Speaking about the game itself, it did sell over 2 million copies. However, I wonder how many people will do the sequel who purchased (by default or by design) the original. Of the 4 people I know who bought Myst, I was the only one who plowed my way through, the rest apparently giving up quite early.

I hate to admit it, but I'm more excited about Riven as a game player than an investor. Myst is still the #1 entertainment I've played on a PC, ever. Hopefully, there's a million more players drooling for the sequel.

I finished Myst in about four days, so that means at least two people of the four million who purchased Myst did stick with it. BTW, four days is a lot longer than it sounds if you play around the clock. :)

Ben: I also bought and finished the game, though it took me like 3
months playing it 2 hours at night.
I myself don't know how much more is my interest in the sequel than in
the company itself, though i've made some nice money with its stock
lately.
Nevertheless, Broderbund is not only about Myst or Riven, have you
seen other Broderbund's products?, check out Logical Journey of the
Zoombinis, getting excellent reviews everywhere; if you've got
kids, they"ll love it and will develope an analytical mind.
And what about this Warlords III coming?. I definitely think we will
see 35's by early next year.
Regards,
Fernando

Actually, I own 15-20 of Broderbund and Living Books products, mostly for my kids, and they are top notch. I agree that 'The ... Zoombinis' is really something else, isn't it? I also have the latest Print Shop and Family Tree Maker. My brother has 3D Home Architect and loves it.

When people buy cars, they don't just walk along and look at sticker prices. Eventually, they will get smart and find out what's underneath the hood of the low end software as well, and Broderbund will regain it's day in the sun.
