The Eagles draft that year was pathetic. It netted exactly one legitimate pick 12th rounder Ray Ellis, S out of Ohio State

Rozelle is sneaking a smoke behind the podium almost every chance he gets...things sure change in 31 years.

Your 'skins taking QB Kirk Cousins in the 4th round has the talking heads all in a tizzy.....He may not be a Drew Brees, but looks like he has some skills to me and comes across as a quality guy that could be productive in the right system.

Drafting a QB controversy seems to be fitting for D.C.

I've made it 60 years without giving the Jets draft picks any thought at all until this year.....and then I get to read this assessment of their first round pick:

"Coples has the body type of a dominant DE, but needs to be more competitive. He could mature into an intimidating pass rusher, but I don't see 10-plus sacks in him like I see in Melvin Ingram."

Needs to be more competitive & could mature?.....A first round draft pick that needs to put on his big boy pants to pan out?....interesting.

The Chargers are all crowing that they got the steal of the 1st round by getting Ingram, esp. since the Jets passed him over two picks earlier -- everyone thought Ingram was a top 5 draft pick, but SD gets him at 18th... question, who determines the top draft picks and if they are so knowledgable, why does someone like Ingram not go until the 18th pick? If he's really that good, the Chargers look like geniuses/lucky dudes... but what if all those teams that could have picked him, but didn't, actually know something -- I suppose there's also the various needs of the teams picking before SD, but still... hard for me to get excited about Ingram until he actually plays and shows something (good or bad).

I still remember when they had Tony Mandarich in the hall of fame before he took his first NFL snap. He turned out to be mediocre at best. You need to wait & see.

we do need a back up QB , but we really need OL men. Last time the skins took two QBs in the draft.

"The Redskins in 1994 drafted Heath Shuler with the third overall pick of the draft and then drafted Gus Frerotte in the seventh round. Shuler never panned out, and it was Frerotte who became a Pro Bowl quarterback two years later."

Don't make me play the Ryan Leaf card where SD actually traded away a boatload of future picks to move up from #3 to #2 to get Leaf? <g/ng>

My Idea of a Good Draft Choice
by John Hinderaker
(John Hinderaker) It’s been a long time since I got very interested in an NFL draft, which some fans regard as the most exciting event on the sports calendar. When the home team goes 3-13, the amount of attention you pay to football, including but not limited to the draft, tends to decline drastically.

So I was one of the last to know that the Miami Dolphins drafted Texas A&M quarterback Ryan Tannehill eighth overall. More to the point, I had no idea that Miami fans are excited about the team’s choice in large part because of Tannehill’s wife Lauren, who has become a Twitter phenomenon. Here she is in a much-tweeted picture, responding to the news that her husband had been selected by the Dolphins:

The Daily Mail, which for reasons I still haven’t figured out covers mostly U.S. news, has a lot more info. The Tannehills tweeted this wedding photo:

But, hey: cute girls are a dime a dozen. This was the picture, courtesy of the Daily Mail, that impressed me:

Now, if you saw a similar photo of another pro football player and his wife your first thought might be that nearby gas stations are likely to be robbed. But Mrs. Tannehill is an enthusiastic Christian, so this is not a case where the family that shoots together, loots together.

There is, of course, no excuse for any of this, except the need to fill the long interregnum before the next meaningful beauty pageant, which will be the Miss World competition in August, from Inner Mongolia. Seriously.

Leaf would definitely be on the short list for biggest bust ever (in any sport)
