Hi Everyone: I just heard this stock referred to as a wireless play. In a very quick scan of this site I see no reference to wireless. Can you enlighten me? Sorry, but I never heard of this stock until today and need to start DD.

as someone who has followed TQNT for a long time and happened to tune in the CNBC show just as the analyst was talking about TQNT being his best in investment in a small cap hitech. I can only say that the minute that was given to the subject does not do it justice. DLJ just made TQNT is top pick also. TQNT Bus in Gaas is booming the usage for these chips is much more that just digital wireless handsets (which is a huge growing market) . Do all the homework you can it is very undervalued based on its future ern, potential and the fact that there are only 9.5 mil shares.

Mike,

Triquint has a float of only 7.5M shares and a total market cap of $330M. Incidentally, Landis, the man who recommended the stock on CNBC is co-manager of the Firsthand Technology Value Fund (TVFQX) which has had an outstanding track record in its brief existence. In the past 6 months the fund has a return of 82%. As of December 31, 1998 TQNT made up about 3.5% of the fund.

This info from the Raging Bull site:

I'm not a shareholder, but I will be tomorrow morning.

Why? Could you give me four reasons for your buy decision?

TQNT is my top wireless pick right now as well. My Reasons.

Hello all and welcome to TriQuint.

We've been waiting.

TQNT is my top wireless pick right now as well.

Reasons:

1) GaAs suppliers are beginning to reach capacity as Nokia and others have found huge success selling phones with longer talk times brought to you by GaAs technology. RFMD is now the top supplier, along with CNXT. But they can't supply them all. The new pricing plans are allowing everyone to get phones. The number of cell phones sold are breaking all expectations for this year. That, coupled with the fact that handset makers are now turning to GaAs from their earlier Silicon modules which were made in Japan. The effect is that the US GaAs suppliers are getting slammed with orders.

2) LMDS: This is a word not common yet, excluding George Gilder.
Of course Kevin Landis has known this as well, even before George G. LMDS is the high frequency wireless infrastructure name for wireless broadband networking. This will be what gets the rest of the world on the Internet in countries without telephone lines or cable TV. It operates in the higher frequency ranges which are the domain of GaAs purely. This is rolling out as early as the end of this year. It will be a big name soon. When it becomes the topic of conversation, I will refer to a link to this post.

Still very long and strong.

*** LMDS is where the action lies ***

Another note on LMDS:

TriQuint is the GaAs leader in LMDS applications.

Remember that TQNT bought the TI high frequency GaAs operations from Raytheon. Raytheon was forced to sell this operation because the AntiTrust Dept determined that they would be the only supplier in the US.

Roll forward to today and TQNT is the only game in town for LMDS since Raytheon is more aligned as a military house. I am hearing that TQNT is getting almost 100% of the action.

The LMDS rollout will need a lot of TQNT high margin parts to make happen.

Conclusion:

LMDS is a hot ticket, and TQNT is the only holder so far.

Long and strong still,

Rex
