Radio Woodstock and world-renowned guitarist Warren Haynes (Gov’t Mule, Allman Brothers Band, The Dead) are proud to announce a very special addition to the Mountain Jam music program: Gov’t Mule’s Tribute Ramble featuring The Levon Helm Band on Saturday, June 2nd.
During their second set on Saturday night, Gov’t Mule will be joined by the full Levon Helm Band including Amy Helm, Larry Campbell, Teresa Williamsand the LHB Hornsamong others. The set will feature music from Levon’s 50+ year career.
Levon Helm, the long-time drummer and singer for The Band, a 2-time Mountain Jam performer and Woodstock resident, passed away in April at the age of 71 after a decade-long battle with cancer.
“Levon was a musical hero of mine,” says Warren Haynes. “His 70th birthday celebration at Mountain Jam two years ago was a magical night and a truly inspiring musical performance. So bringing back that incredible band to share in our tribute seemed like a great way to honor his memory.”
“Levon really touched the lives of so many people,” says Radio Woodstock/Mountain Jam president/owner Gary Chetkof. “He was a larger-than-life figure here in the Hudson Valley, so it’s a true privilege and honor to be able to pay tribute to his life music at a festival so close to his hometown.”
Levon Helm presented his Ramble On The Road at the fourth annual Mountain Jam Festival in 2008 and returned in 2010 for his 70th Birthday Jubilee, a set featuring the Levon Helm Band and a host of special guests including Warren Haynes, Donald Fagen, Ray LaMontagne, Sam Bush, Steve Earle, Patterson Hood, and Jackie Greene among others. |
