Techie, very nice of you to drop by and say hello.
Well my dear, my principles are:
1.Listen to everybody with respect (no matter who)
2.Analyzing what he/she said
3.Execution (based on me and not someone else)

Hope these answer your friendly question.

Rupert: >>>ADI's new ADSL chipset (AD20msp410) is based on standard
>>>DMT and does *NOT* use the wavelet modulation (DWMT).

Rupert,

Then what is the AD20msp910 which is also based on DMT ??
What is the difference between this and AD20msp410 ???
DMT is AMTX's standard, but then why is ADI working with AWRE
in developing AD20msp910 ?
(AMTX owns DMT standard and so should it be that ADI works with
AMTX in developing AD20msp910/AD20msp410 ? ADI will then only
pay royalty to AMTX instead of to AWRE ????)

>>>ADI is producing a chip based on DWMT, which is being used in
>>>several cable modem (HFC) systems. It could be used over copper
>>>too, but would no longer be standard.

From your knowledge, is DWMT better than DMT ?
if so then why not choosing DWMT over DMT ??
if not then why build DWMT at the first place ???

Your inputs/answers are highly appreciated :))

Joeseph.

Joseph, the news about ADI's new chipset came out Monday morning that made Aware shot up almost 2 points and Amati tumbled (if I recalled correctly) then the News came up in WSJ after the bell.
It indicated that any activities in ADI/AWRE won't reflect anything to AMTX (forget that all royalties stuff).
Again is not IMHO, its a fact!!!

More info about Aware will kill Amati in 1996.
As you know people are beginning to talk about VDSL which is the next step of HFC not copperwire, seems like the questions have been answer indirect ways.
Also in Europe, Millions have already used HFC for their email.
ZE and Pacific Bell has choosen HFC, soon will be Westell

Aware's DWMT has an answer already for VDSL.
Probably ADI is working on VDSL chipset based on Aware tehnology right now.

Leo, NOTHING surprises me. I don't think AMTX is bye bye though; but they might get bought.

Leo, VDSL is part of BBTK solution. VDSL works over copper in that implementation. I agree that Aware is more of a cable company than a telco company when it comes to the market they are after. I am also more bullish on cable than the AMTX crowd. ADSL over copper will be the story for 1997 though.

Leo, you sound like you are heading off into left field. DWMT implemented in the VDSL solution MAY be promising.

Do you know who Rupert Baines is? That is your next most important research question.

Leo,
how is it that you have concluded that vdsl is the next step of hfc and NOT copperwire? Take a look at the chart (thanks to bill c)
