Sometimes it's religion and sometimes it's economics/politics and the opposing sides just happen to be different religions In Ireland, religion was a minor factor. It had to do with English influence over Ireland that the Irish resented. Even if they were the same religion, they's still would have been killing each other. Even the Nazi hatred of Jews was in part driven by politics and economics. It's wasn't purely about religion. When occupy Wall St was camped outside of Goldman Sachs, it wasn't because they hated Jews. Now in some middle eastern countries it's 100% about religion.
