I know virtually nothing about Insignia's product line....as
I amply demonstrated in an earlier question posed a couple
of weeks ago. What I will say is that there has been quite a
bit of discussion relative to Ntrigue being used at the Univ.
of California, Davis to allow multiple users to access a
an c/s application (regardless of type of client). The
pitfalls discussed here at UCD, however, are the very expensive
licensing costs determined by INSGY. Only the richest departments
with the largest implementations can afford to put up an Ntrigue
server. However, many campus technical experts do like it....
just can't afford it.

On the stock, I believe that as MSFT and Citrix work out their
little licensing problem, that this stock will see a sympathetic
improvement (albeit smaller). The key will be their continued
growth in sales of Ntrigue...which I think will help power
the stock price. I hope....:-)

Thanks, Kent.

Hi Kent, I appreciate your comments about licensing costs for educational sites, which is why our sales force are willing to make a "proposal" occasionally to a deserving university!!

One thing I thought I'd mention, though, is that the cost of an NTRIGUE server, its PC and networking, can work out as significantly LOWER than the cost of upgrading existing PCs to run Windows 95 applications, or replacing Macs, or even putting an extra PC next to a UNIX workstation. This is where the real value of such a multi-user NT installation manifests itself.

Cheers,

Ray Thackeray

Recent stock price declines suggest that someone may be
worried about the lawsuit filed against INSGY. Since you
work for INSGY can you shed light on how they feel about
the lawsuit and how they expect this quarters earnings to
play out? I am sure just "strong earnings", "moderate earnings",
or "weak earnings" will be just fine for a response. Or,
optionally, "strong sales", "moderate sales", or "weak sales"
might do just as well. Also, how well is Ntrigue doing with
sales?

Is this stock tied closely to the CTXS situation? Can you comment
on your expectations of a positive resolution to this situation.

Finally, how does Exodus Technologies rollout of new products
compete with INGSY?

Thanks, Kent.

Here's a story that emerged after the markets closed...

Insignia Solutions Names Richard Noling President and Chief
Executive Officer

SANTA CLARA, Calif., March 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Insignia Solutions(R) (Nasdaq: INSGY) announced today that
Richard M. Noling has been named president and chief executive officer. Mr. Noling has served as chief financial
officer and senior vice president of finance and operations since joining the company in April 1996. He replaces Dr.
Robert P. Lee, who has been appointed vice chairman of the board of directors and will continue to serve on the
board. Nicholas, Viscount Bearsted, a board member, was named chairman of the board.

"I have great confidence in Rick's abilities and skills to lead this company forward," said Dr. Lee. "He has substantial
operating experience as well as a strong financial background. I believe he will be a strong leader to guide Insignia
through the challenges the company faces in the near term."

Lord Bearsted stated, "Dr. Lee helped to turn the company around in 1993 and 1994, and guided the company to a
public offering in 1995. The contributions he has made to the company are deeply appreciated."

Lord Bearsted served as the company's chief executive officer from 1988 to 1993, and has been a member of the
board of directors since 1988. His role as chairman will be as an active consultant to assist in the company's strategic

will be making critical decisions in the near future to reduce operating expenses and focus on our development efforts
on products that will position the company for growth in the future. Nicky's guidance and background will be
invaluable.

"Yesterday, we began the process of minimizing expenses by reducing the company's headcount worldwide by more
than 10 percent," added Mr. Noling. "We will continue to take a hard look at operational expenses to ensure that they
are in line with revenues, and focus on effectively supporting our SoftWindows and NTRIGUE product lines."

Before joining Insignia Solutions, Mr. Noling was vice president and CFO at Fast Multimedia, Inc. In addition, he
was chief financial officer at Gupta Corporation. Mr. Noling also served as vice president and chief financial officer at

Interesting phrase....what challenges is he referring to I
wonder?

Thanks, Kent.

"He has substantial operating experience as well as a strong financial background. I believe he will be a strong leader to guide Insignia through the challenges the company faces in the near term."

I also found out who owned Exodus Technologies....American United
Global. The combination of Exodus Technologies and AUG is a
really strange marriage....

Company Summary

American United Global owns a majority stake in Western Power & Equipment, which sells, leases, and services Case light
and medium-sized construction equipment through retail distribution outlets in California, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington.
Western distributes a broad range of construction equipment, including backhoes, excavators, crawler dozers, log loaders,
roller compactors, trenchers, forklifts, and skid steer loaders manufactured by Case Corp. and others. The company has
diversified into the telecommunications industry with acquisitions in the fields of Internet and intranet software and
telecommunications equipment and service companies.

That does sound like a strange marriage.

And you see them as competing with Insignia's products?

You referred to the declining share price...many of us who bought these eroding ADR's are really hurting. If the price doubles from
here, I'll yet to have broken even.

I hope the guy from Insignia answers the questions you posted to him.

Hi Thomas:

Yeah...Exodus Technologies has a product called Nterprise that
allows Windows applications to run on Java enabled workstations.
Ray had indicated on the CTXS board that Insignia (with its
Ntrigue product) has had this capability for at least 6 months
now. My issue isn't who had it first, but who is selling the
better product and which will win out cost/competitively. What
features does Ntrigue have that Nterprise does not, for example.

I have included the short Yahoo brief. I couldn't retrieve the
details. Thanks, Kent.

Exodus Technologies(TM) Inc. today announced a new
version of NTERPRISE(TM), for running Windows applications on Java-enabled
computers. - Mar 25 1:22 PM EST
