I am personally aware of class action law suits won with less of a case than this one! CTN will lose this....and it may complete the destruction of this fraudulent operation.

hi Alfred thanks for the info, I saw that in the FAQ on misc.invest . it said that I borrow the stock from the same brockerage firm. so supposed that if I am thinkin g CTN will drop the price from 18 to 15 and at that momment, I didn't own CTN. say the bid/ask is 17.5/18 . and I want to short it, will the broker tell me I have to sell it at 18 or 17.5 (market price)? If the brokerage is not very big, so I won't be able to short it? Suppose I can short and the price drop to 15 in 1 day, I can buy it back from Open market? Not only inside the brokerage firm? It sounds very easy to me if it is possible. Now I have to buy at what price if the bid/ask are 15/15.5 ? What long can I short it for? Do I have to maintain the price of the stock in my account in order to short it? can a cash account be used to do those shorting transaction? and do I have to pay interest etc for the person who lent me the stock to sell? (from FAQ, it says I never know who it is), if suddenlt that particular person want to sell it after I short it, I have to buy it right away? so I might be unlucky that the brockerage firm chose the wrong person to borrow the stock from? Thanks very much

More bad news in the Boston Globe this morning, and they re-ran the awful picture of Pinez against a pink background (does anyone else think he looks a little like Rodney Dangerfield?). Anyway, PaineWebber is owed $20 million or thereabouts by Pinez. They are seeking to sell his CTN holdings to cover the debt so the big selling may not be over. Also, at least one company owed money by CTN is indicating that not getting paid may cause them to default on their bank loans. Another story detailed a group of four other stocks that apparently tracked CTN's slide, including Websecure, Sterling Vision and Nyer Medical Group. This saga just deepens and worsens over time...

YOU SUE CTN ALFRED

Pinez and Co. Misrepresented their earnings, Sales etc...
If you get a rotten hamburger from McDonalds do you sue the cook?
I would sue McDonalds...
Pinez will also be named in a separate Law
Suit and So will CTN. He will probably get a Hollywood contract and
get rights to his new Movie and Cable Channel and it will be called CTN (Corrupt Trading Network)!!!

Dave,
I've been following Cabot for some time now. I failed to get stung on CTN but I took a real bath on PRST as I bought it at 175 and failed to place a stop loss order.
I found your comment on Oniell interesting. You probably heard his comments on the tape which IBD sends out with their two week trial. I think this tape contains some great strategies and I plan to incorporate them into my financial planning.
You mentioned the Hulbert Digest and their poor rating on Cabot. Can you get their recommendations anywhere on the net? Do you have anyone you follow or basically make your choices on the info you read in IBD?
I couldn't pass up CTN @ 2. I finally bought some but I realize it will probably be a total loss. It was my way of rewarding myself for not buying at 40 or 30 or 20.
STEVE

Greetings Steve: Forgive my ignorance, but what is IBD and how can I get a trial package? Information on good trading strategies would be helpful to all of us.

More detail on accessing Hulbert Digest would also be of interest.

Thanks.

Rose

Re: Boston Globe and pending lawsuits:

Paul, thanks for providing the news from the Boston Globe. $20M owed is a hefty amount due Paine Webber. The fall out on this one is spreading. No news on the revised financial information?

Someone asked about how to participate in a lawsuit. I spoke with Barbara Podell, Attorney 1 800-993 3233. She was helpful in understanding the nature of a class action suit, time, cost, etc. Her firm filed around 2/12/97. She faxed me the forms to sign to participate the next day. I haven't decided to join in yet; I'm still waiting for more info re: the company's actual financial position. We have 60 days from the day the suit is filed to be named. There are a number of law suits filed against CTN and they will probably all be lumped together by a judge and he/she will determine which law firm will pursue the class action case. It is supposedly all done on a contingency basis. The participant must provide proof of purchase of shares. I thought my interests were too minimal to care about, but that doesn't seem to be the case. My comparable small loss was as important to the case as the more dramatic losses.

I also understand that there are institutional investors involved in this fiasco, so we weren't any less astute than they were. Is that solice?

To CTN owners,
Unfortunately I have been through this too many times. I wondered why I did not own CTN this round. It is because I own WORK.

I own WORK today to remind me of the lessons of being a " self directed Investor". I, as you made that choice freely. WORK also is trading at 2.125 WORKE (pink sheets) from a high of $87.00. LOWS in troubled companies occur in DECEMBER. WORK traded at $0.65 on Dec 31, 1996. I expect this should follow for CTN. For buyers, December is the time that Stock Certificated are traded in for TAX losses. Owners do not care what they sell them for. They want to get rid of the nightmare and the stock is a constant reminder of the pain they went through. This is the Time and opportunity for distress Buyers. The Pink Sheets very often carry a 50% Spread. Not including your brokerage commission.

I have the class action suit on my desk for SPCL, and way back got my first settlement on TOS. TOS went on to reorganize, and has fully recovered, unfortunately for me I had enough of it after getting $215.00 for the 1000's I lost. I decided to take the TAX loss and move on. Of course two years later it proceeded to go to $80. What it does say is you either take the TAX loss or be prepared to live through the agony of waiting 5-8 years. Watch the Lawyers have a feast at your expense. Whatever the Co. can produce will go to the Lawyers for the next couple of years.

I hold on to WORK, a very expensive lesson, so that I will remember that I, or you are at the end of the rumor mill. What ever News that is coming, if true, will be factored into the price. So never take advice from others until you have proven all the information for yourself. Remember to Value a company to a reasonable PE and Sales to Cap. What was CTN revenues to merit 1Billion Cap.. Anyone remember IDID? Absurd Valuations. Even companies that are good reach these absurd Valuations, PIXR, NTCP, MACR, QDEK, etc. I am amazed that some Trading friends never bother to find out what the Number of shares out/float is of the issue they just Bot. Very rarely do they know the Book Value. Yes you will miss some gainers, but the name of the game is not to loose, more than to make that quick Buck.

So if you are a self directed investor, this is your tuition. Do not blame your lack of DueDil or that you were misled by others. That is the game. HYPE. you better realize it soon or you will not be around two years from now. If you do not accept this, diversify with Mutual Funds accoding to your Risk and Time Horizon.

As for the CEO's, they made their killing. Its in the Books. Where, only he knows. What is three years in a country club, while your family waits for you to come home to Switzerland a Millionaire. Why does he have so many homes in so many countries? I have seen it before. Anyone remember Student Marketing? What happened to Cort Randall. You should see his Lear Jet today. He served his time so everything is forgiven. No one is going to take care of you unless you do it for yourself. The class action suite is not done for you. It is done for the Lawyers benefit. This is a wakeup call, treated as such. The lessons learned can come back to you three fold.

I am here to help anyone that is willing to listen, since I have been there, and I know many will walk into another debacle. I sure did.
