The strange part is that we were expecting ASND to be very good (see earlier posts by Billy titled ASND vs. CSCC) compared to CSCC. But with such good earnings, ASND is just 591/2 and CSCC is 71 even without earnings. -Ravi
Earnings estimates raised. Robertson Stephens & Co. said its analyst Paul Johnson raised his 1996 earnings estimate for Ascend Communications to 0.97 a share from 0.77 and his 1997 estimate to $1.44 a share from $1.05. ----- Johnson labeled the quarter "amazing" and reiterated his buy rating on the stock. -Ravi
Ravi, It's got nothing to do with earnings today. The Cabot market letter is the one that pushed up Presstek to $200, MRVC to $80, Zolt to $42, ...
These Cabot boys are going to push up CSCC and get in get out 100 times today and in days to follow.
CSCC will report tomorrow after market close.
ASND's momentum has declined in recent months. Note that when a stock drops from 71 to 48(just a couple of weeks ago), new investors get in at those low prices and therefore cash in their profit way before the stock reaches 71 again.
CSCC has got lots of upside momentum. As I have said all week in CSCC's forum, I am looking for CSCC to hit a new high this week.
That's right Mojie. I listened to Cabot's hotline this morning. Mojie, what other Cabot picks do you recommend. He has a bunch of recommendations: CXC, WTT, ZOLT, JLGI, RWIN, GASIA which he recommends as buys. -Ravi
Cowens ups ASND "Cowens & Co. said it raised the earnings estimates for Ascend Communications Inc. by $0.15 per share to 0.95 for 1996 and by $0.10 to $1.35 for 1997."-Reuter Cowens is trying to be a little conservative after blowing it on MOT. Two days back he raised MOT's estimates to $0.80 for this quarter which caused MOT to go up two points. -Ravi
Ravi, JLGI & CXC are the two companies with a lot of institutional backing. But they are volatile just like other Cabot's picks.
Note that CSCC was recommended for the FIRST TIME. The others have been recommended for a while and have risen up sharply and have corrected recently. What makes CSCC a good one to invest in is that it was just recommended. That means it is in the begining phase of its sharp upside move. Just have to make sure to get in now and get out before it turns around.
The other two stocks that I have are TLAB and EFII. Earnings due out tomorrow after close.
I'm glad to see these guys (Cowan & Robertson Stephens)are beginning to see it my way (heh, heh, heh!) - 6/26 prediction: "Q2 @ .21/.22 w/ .92 for 1996 (Asnd Descending #250), followed by 7/9 post #69 on Earnings Report Premier: "still thinking .21-22 tomorrow and maybe a bit better, and stock will go up $2-3..."
My parents taught me that boasting was really impolite but I'm afraid the impulse overrode that caution.
Still believe that NTSR is going to be *incredibly additive*, particularly after reading Edjabat's remarks in yesterday's press release. If we only knew what he held back--
A few good Motley Fool posts follow. I hope this helps a few of you out who do not have access yet to view the message folder over there. Although I dislike AOL greatly, it is easily worth the cost associated for the discussions (usually) on the Motley Fool area. You should consider checking into it.
