Hi Phil,

What ever AAPL value is at the time of the Q3 announcements/or shortly there after (meet or beat the street #s), Q4 and Q1 promise to be spectacular moving the stock up at an accelerated pace. If we can test $35 this month, never to see $20's again (except if we split @ $40), I'd be a very happy camper.

Hope everyone is on board for this ride! Alomex? (*_*)

Cheers,
Dennis

P.S. I once hoped for a merger/buyout (IBM/Sun/Disney/Sony) but I believe at this point we can go-it-alone and would prefer to do so.

Rah! Rah!

As an AAPL cheerleader, these heady times are especially dear to me. No longer must I feel awkward donning my mini-skirt and pompons.

I think we should have a moment of silence for
financialtrader.com  and whispernumber.com  .

<moment of silence>

I think this rally continues in the morning. Anyone following ticks saw how it ended today. Join us over at aapltalk.com  for the open around 6:30 am Pacific tomorrow morning.

Should be fun ....

GO AAPL!

Kurt

$5M here, $5M there, and pretty soon you are talking serious money.

<Microsoft To Pay $5 Mln In Internet
Explorer Settlement. Dow Jones Newswires

CHICAGO (AP)--Microsoft Corp. agreed Wednesday to
pay $5 million to continue using the name Internet
Explorer for the browser software it has heavily promoted
for three years.

>...<Microsoft was in the awkward position of arguing that the
name of its widely used browser was not a brand name but
merely two words that described a common computer
function.

The software giant argued that SyNet did not deserve
trademark protection on the name because it wasn't the
first to use it and because the words "Internet Explorer"
are merely descriptive, like cola, and not a brand, like
Coke.

After the settlement was announced, Microsoft said it was
still confident of its legal position.

"We are confident we would have won this case on the
merits but we are pleased to put this issue behind us,"
Microsoft said in a statement. "We have said all along that
we were open to resolving this issue without the need for
expensive and time-consuming litigation...>

See, they really are nice fellas, out to support what is best for the consumer. Right. They hung a little company out to dry for YEARS in protracted court procedings.

" Thank God Amelio didn't drop those when he was selling off all the AOL common to make one of his quarters look fifty million better. Anyone know the current value of the warrants Apple holds?"

Marc, as far as I know, Apple exercised warrants in Nov of 95 and purchased 2 million shares of AOL for $12.5 million. The 2 million shares later turned into 4 million shares after a stock split. Those shares were sold in Q3 of 96 for $39 mil? I can't confirm whether or not Apple still holds owns warrants on AOL.

I'll be there.

I'm not sure how the tech sector will respond to the news that Intel will temporarily close down two fabs for 9 days...maybe that'll dampen our rally tomorrow. Nice to know that mother of all Pentium snails find it necessary to cut back. Intel's pain is our gain.

Well, I didn't mean to create any confusion. I thought there was a post on the MF a while back stating that Apple still had remaining warrants. I think someone came on after some big AOL run-up and said, ha ha, we still have all that stock. And someone else said, nope, Amelio sold it but we still have more warrants.

I dunno,

To All, re: Cork plant: Although its printed circuit board production is being outsourced (along with sale of related manufacturing equiptment), the Cork facility will be the European production/assembly center for the iMac.

Tell that to Coca-Cola!

On another note. Since when does someone trademark a feature? I thought totally seperate products get that kind of clout. Can features be marketed to other platforms and Operating Systems?

Is the DOJ looking at this?

Did some research into Apple's holdings in ARM and General Magic

Apple currently owns 27.16% of ARM and 9.4% of General Magic.
Shares of ARM (ARMHY) doubled since the IPO and shares of General Magic is trading at about 10X that of earlier this year.

Apple's $16 mil or so investment in ARM is now worth about $250 mil excluding the $23.4 mil gain from IPO. Its investment in GMGC is now worth about $31 mil. At some point all this gain will be added to our book value.
