We're not just talking about email here. I can always pick up the phone, so can they. But if my gigs worth of priceless data they need - desperately, yesterday - are stuck in an inaccessible cloud, for an hour and a half, well, that is another matter altogether, isn't it?Well, that's another matter. Your objection isn't specific to iCloud, then.
There is also no cloud storage system that is immune to outages, which is one of the reasons I've never bought into that idea that "the cloud" will replace local storage, and we'll all eventually access everything, including applications, our data, etc., from lightweight portable devices.
The cloud is fine for backups and non-essential data, I guess, but even then, I'd rather have my stuff where I can get my grubby hands on it.
