J.F.: my 7 year old iMac is at another location - when I can I will get those specs for you but I can tell you this is all subjective.

Have you had a chance to check out your old iMac for those specs yet? I've been anxiously awaiting them. No rush really, just curious. Thanks! :-)

Seriously though, for $65, I think the toy will do very nicely.

You're right, of course. I was just giving you a little jazz this fine morning. For that price almost anyone could take a flyer and be happy with it.

However, the original price was $250, which is completely insane. Anyone who paid that got ripped off, to the max!

It's interesting that you say that, the Kindle Fire is still $200, and I wonder if most still consider that too expensive for the features you get.

I think it's way too expensive. Especially given my $65 toy can do almost everything the Fire can.

I think there is a huge market for 7" tablets under $100, then skip everything else in between, and compete directly with the iPad.

"I think there is a huge market for 7" tablets under $100..."

At that price, one can argue that it has tougher competition than the ipad. For $65, I start thinking about how many Big Mac's I could be buying instead, and honestly, an janky Android tablet doesn't fare well in that comparison :).

That is on-topic IMO because it is powered by a MIPS processor as part of competition to ARM.

MIPS Aims to Break ARMs ...

If Apple ever goes with MIPS, it will be disruptive.

If they do, I'll be sorrier than ever that I sold my MIPS a few weeks ago.

Recent rumors were that AMD was looking to buy MIPS, but Apple would be a much better suitor.

That said, I'll be very surprised if Apple dumps ARM.

Well, I'm not much of a fan of anything from Micky D's, and the $65 was well spent, methinks. The toy is really growing on me. Can't wait to show it off to my son, tonite, over beers. I'll whip it out of my cargo pants pocket in the bar. That'll blow his mind. They have free WiFi there, so he can have the complete experience, including taking a peek at the movies I loaded. Yeah, I think I did good with this toy. Very good. :-)

IMHO, to me this says that Apple is very comfortable with the next couple of quarter's revenue, sales, and margins projections. Otherwise, they would have settled this case and brought the new iPads to China as quick as possible. Is that a fair assumption?
Apple offered a more than reasonable settlement, and Proview, being greedy, rejected it. Apple isn't just going to cave in and offer them the moon, because it would set a bad precedent for other companies trying to shake them down on flimsy pretexts.

I don't believe the Proview case is relevant to Apples comfort level with their projections, though, I'm sure they expect to be able to at least meet their guidance for this quarter, without assuming any iPad sales in China.
