> 20 million to RD electronic components

Make that CONSUMER electronic components. There is a distinction.

In any case there certainly is still a hell of a lot of confusion and misinformation about LQMT. I think it IS on topic because if Apple ever makes a phone from the process, its going to be a hell of a beautiful phone.

If they have it together to make a full LM case, the iPhone 5 is going to be mind blowing. It might be mind blowing even if they just use it for the back. I had assumed for some time that that would be the case but since Engle has developed machines that are capable of making far more complex parts than Apple requires I am no longer sure. I think there is a distinct possibility that Apple may release a full case iPhone 5.

Its not a single alloy. Its the understanding of what properties will result from different ratios of elements, one KEY property is the rate of cooling that has to take place in order to prevent crystallization.

They do not need to perfect the alloy necessarily. They need to perfect the injection machines which of course will virtually never happen as designs improve. Apparently Engle has produced and delivered at least 2 machines. LQMT is making parts for 3 clients. They do not make any parts that sell for less than $200 at this point.

The fact that they are making and selling parts that sell for more than $200 is an indication that the parts are larger and more complex than what Apple needs, which also indicates that Apple may have the ducks in a row to begin making FULL backs rather than simpler flat backs.

I'd say the camera is going to be the #2 determinate when I buy my first smart phone this year, after the carrier agreement.

I would not mind seeing a discussion or a comparison from a phone expert about which phones cameras are superior.

Pardon me for not stating it correctly: I know that LM comprises five metals which, when combined, becomes a new ALLOY.

I think though the back is a complex part because of all the machined holes. And pardon me again if I don't describe it exactly, either.

At first glance, the specs on the Galaxy S3 seem anticlimatic. If CNET is right, the US LTE version wont even launch until the December quarter.

EDIT....CNET was wrong. A US version is due this summer.

I'm not sure they always have to use 5 metals. The point though is that different ratios of elements produce different properties. The cooling rate is relatively swift so the atoms cannot line up in crystalized formations. All other metals (? pretty sure) crystalize when they cool which creates weaknesses.

Well of course no one knows what Apple is going to do. Full rounded back like the iPad, flat one piece back or, this new design I handn't considered: iLounge put out this speculative piece today. This to me is a credible design.

ilounge.com

According to our source, Apple will make one major change to the rear casing, adding a metal panel to the central back of the new iPhone. This panel will be flat, not curved, and metal, not ceramic. Our artist’s rendition provides a rough idea of what this change will look like; it echoes the current-generation iMac design, to be sure.

It would eliminate broken gorilla glass in the most vulnerable areas, and being a simple (more or less) rectangle would allow Apple use LM without much risk, and to use LM for the other properties they crave:

- strength: more battery room, slightly less heavy
- color
- lazer etched Apple logo
- no scratches

It would also allow Apple to get its iPhone 5 out soon, which is getting critical.

And it just "looks" right. It looks like an Apple design.

You're right on those remarks. Have you seen the new Samsung Galaxy 3 - all that hype for a
so-so piece of hardware.

I am watching the broadcast right now. So far, not much "Wow". I lot of tech speak of how great things are but not sure that anything works. For example, that pick the best picture feature picked the picture of the gal with her head cocked and not smiling. What a feature!

Can anyone tell why they would want the S3 over the iPhone?

Their "One More Thing" was "One more Surprise" was something called "PINS" ? that I guess are local retail shops that they are going to open up. Yawn.
