So, they gonna split this AAPL, or what?
They might do a 2 for 1 after the $10 billion buyback is complete, because they'll have enough available shares to do it, then. I think. That would be quite while from now.

That still would not be low enough. As they stated when they announced the bb plan, its goal is to offset issuances for employee (and director?) issuances.

A reduction of 16 million shares will barely keep the divisor at 945m, IMO.

At the end of the day, you probably want both a decent laptop and an iPad.
If the LInux jocks were running Apple, that's be an idea for a new product:

A laptop with an iPad mounted on the other side of the cover.

Makes about as much sense as other Linux (or MS products) that I've used.

Nothing wrong with the detachable keyboard idea, making for a decent laptop, when attached. One of these days it'll get there...

The only reason is if you want to ditch your PCs completely, and you're attached at the hip to Excel (as I am). Im sitting comfortably on the couch with my iPad on my lap but at any moment I could get an emergency email and have to get up and fire up the PC and sit at mt desk for a half hour.
I get that. What I still don't get is how the desktop version of Excel is going to be anything more than a nightmare when using it on a tablet, given that it was never designed for that kind of an interface. Nobody has yet explained to me how that's supposed to work. They just keep saying that they really need these programs, so they want a tablet that will let them run them.

Well, there are only so many of those plum jobs to go around. We can't all aspire to such heights.
