OT Saving America

WINDERMERE, Fla. ( Stockpickr) -- U.S. stocks are off to a bullish start today, after tech kingApple( AAPL _) reported stronger-than expected results on Tuesday after the market close. Shares of Apple are responding positively, with the stock up over 50 points to $615, or around 9% in early trading.

Market players are now awaiting a Federal Reserve policy announcement and chairman Ben Bernanke's new conference, which will occur later today. Traders are eager to hear if Bernanke will make any hints at the possibility of more quantitative easing or if he will hint that the Fed could be done with its easy money policy.

Some traders believe that Bernanke will have a hard time convincing market participants that we need QE3 since Apple's numbers were so strong. That said, it's possible that Apple is simply taking market share from its competitors and the overall economy is nowhere near as strong. Only time will tell as we move deeper into earnings season and see how a broad base of companies perform from an earnings standpoint.

Sprint to Offer Unlimited Data Plans for Next iPhone, Even if LTE Included
Wednesday April 25, 2012 10:31 am PDT by Eric Slivka
Earlier this month, Sprint revealed that it would continue to offer its unlimited data plans as it rolls out its first LTE devices. The news led to reasonable speculation that the policy would also apply to an LTE-enabled iPhone, which is expected to launch later this year.

CNET now reports that Sprint has confirmed plans to continue offering unlimited data for the next iPhone, regardless of whether or not the device supports LTE.If the next iteration of the iPhone arrives with LTE, Sprint will continue to offer a no-strings unlimited plan, CEO Dan Hesse told CNET. The company is already sticking with unlimited for its first batch of LTE phones, but it was unclear whether the offer would apply to next iPhone.

"I'm not anticipating the unlimited plan would change by that point," he said. "That's our distinctive differentiator."

Hesse notes that the unlimited data plans for the iPhone have been successful for the company, attracting customers from other carriers. As announced in its earnings release earlier today, 44% of Sprint's iPhone sales during the first quarter of 2012 were to customers new to the carrier.

With LTE's faster data speeds, customers have the potential to significantly larger amounts of cellular data, and it had been unclear whether Sprint would be able to continue offering unlimited data to LTE customers for that reason. Sprint has been behind the other major U.S. carriers in its rollout of LTE support, as it initially supported WiMAX for its 4G technology, it is now moving rapidly to begin deployment of LTE to its network.

Greetings from Green River UT library.

Took off from San Diego yesterday sqeezing in a week in Utah, but worried about Apple stock until I heard on PBS Apple blew out estimates again. Whew did they ever.

I'm gonna miss all the conjecture this week, no way I'll be able to go back and read them all.

Today I visited Goblin State Park. Unbelieveable. Cannot take enough photos. Utah is amazing.

It's all AAPL good but I hope you dumped LQMT, on Monday. ;-)

Enjoy Utah. Sundance Institute is one of my favorite places on Earth, ever since I got to visit with dad, who is mentioned in that wiki piece.

Got to go to a waterfall with Sigourney Weaver, who proceeded to bathe in it, au natural. No, I did not make photos. Didn't dare. But the crystal clear memory is burned into my brain, forever. :-)))

Best!

> dump LQMT - I'm not good enough to be a trader yet. I almost dumped at .24... Forgot in the rush to get ready to travel. So you see... I'm not good enough at day trading yet. Maybe in a year or two I'll have some time to get TA down pat.

In the mean time it an experiment. We'll see what happens.

Off to Arches, possibly Dead Horse Pt., Natural bridges, Valley of the Gods, Goosenecks, Monument Valley and Sonora National Monument.

Funny. The naysayers are at it still...

"Apple blew out earning... again, BUT faces all sorts of goblins"

We've been hearing that for several years now haven't we?

OT:
you owe me a new keyboard

Took half an hour to walk up to that waterfall. Swiftly. The woman has legs way longer than mine. Anyway, that whole trek, up and down with the waterfall in the middle, is right up there with the greatest experiences I ever had. She is smart, funny, fearless, real and super sexy. Right up there with Meryl Streep, but way sexier.

How much for the keyboard? ;-)
