Digging further into the story of how freely taxpayer money was spent for ridiculous luxuries -- an old article, but recent ones have been expunged: Solyndra Plant Had Whistling Robots, Spa Showers By Alison Vekshin and Mark Chediak - The glass-and-metal building that Solyndra LLC began erecting alongside Interstate 880 in Fremont, California, in September 2009 was something the Silicon Valley area hadn’t seen in years: a new factory. It wasn’t just any factory. When it was completed at an estimated cost of $733 million, including proceeds from a $535 million U.S. loan guarantee, it covered 300,000 square feet, the equivalent of five football fields. It had robots that whistled Disney tunes, spa-like showers with liquid-crystal displays of the water temperature, and glass-walled conference rooms. “The new building is like the Taj Mahal,” John Pierce, 54, a San Jose resident who worked as a facilities manager at Solyndra, said in an interview. The building, designed to make far more solar panels than Solyndra got orders for, is now shuttered, and U.S. taxpayers may be stuck with it. Solyndra filed for bankruptcy protection on Sept. 6, leaving in its wake investigations by Congress and the Federal Bureau of Investigation and a Republican-fueled political embarrassment for the Obama administration, which issued the loan guarantee. On "Piers Morgan Tonight," the former president spoke with guest host Harvey Weinstein, the film producer, who brought the conversation back to movies, natch. Weinstein asked, if he made a movie, "Who would you want to play you, Mr. President?" Clinton seemed genuinely stumped and replied, "Gosh, I don't know. I don't know. I would trust your judgment more than mine on that." Weinstein was ready with his judgment: "Brad Pitt? George Clooney?" Clinton dismissed Pitt as "too good-looking" but Clooney could be a possibility since he "is at least more my size." "And not that good-looking either," Weinstein jokingly added. Clinton responded, "He's good-looking but, you know, you could put bulbous things on his nose and you could do makeup with him." The former president called Clooney's most recent movie, "The Descendants," "fabulous." He said, "He was so good in it, so real." And what about his wife, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton? There, the 65-year-old did not hesitate. He answered instantly, "Meryl Streep."

Chicago Alderman Warns 'People Are Going to Get Hurt' in Labor Dispute by Rebel Pundit breitbart.com Chicago Alderman Anthony Beale gave new meaning to constituent advocacy yesterday when he told Metra’s executive director “people are going to get hurt” in the dispute over how many minorities they decide to hire for a railroad bridge project, the “Englewood Flyer.” The Chicago Sun-Times reports Beale did not specify who would “get hurt” or who would do the hurting. No matter the victims or perpetrators, this is a rather alarming prediction for a locally elected official to make. Beal warned, “I’m trying to help you help yourself. When I say that, problems could arise. When you look at a community like Englewood [that] is challenged and you have over $1 billion of work coming through and there’s no people of color working on that project, I’m afraid people are going to get hurt.” “When you look at the make-up of the community — when you look at the unemployment rate … in that particular community, it’s probably 35, almost 40 percent. … To have a contract come like this in the African-American community with less than one percent minority participation is an insult.” The Sun-Times also states Beale is not the only elected official weighing in on the project. Earlier this year, Congressman and former Black Panther Bobby Rush also threatened Metra over African Americans not getting their fair share of the first $86 million being spent on the project.
