There is a difference between confusion due to ignorance and pathological lies stemming from a desire to deceive. There is also a reason 11 people have made a deliberate choice on a board with 39 readers and only 2 people made the opposite choice. The other 26 made no choice at all.

These guys should know this

They are all relatively new to the company and are taking the lazy approach: throw money at the problem rather than identify the root causes and take incremental corrective actions.

The bright side is those ad dollars are discretionary to a degree. Financial results can be managed through that line item.

Re $200+ million ad $ on the share base. .

It is obviously a potential EPS driver.

Would note that their share buybacks have been a debacle.

The 08 convert at about $24 and due in 2013 is a riot

2012 Turnarund results for Novastar...

Check out line of 129 the following spread sheet and tell me how it reads. I'm really old and half blind, but I think it says that NOVS is up 59.09% since January 1st....anyone else read it that way?

docs.google.com

In 2011 Novastars other Symbol NOVSP was up from the year before over 400% and today its up over 700%.

The whole while Novastar has been climbing the miscreant wall of worry, those investors who chose to stand by their pick are very happy.

Stay tuned because there's a lot more to come.

ps...any of you miscreants from KC gotten to know Scott Pioli...I have a pretty special connection there just for chits and grins.

Bad eyesight and lack of knowledge a lethal combination.

" New, but with some experience
Last week I took a position in NFI buying between 8.55 and 10.18 with average share cost being around $9.50. I've been fortunate/lucky enough to have invested in subprime business's the likes of PVN, MXT and ACF back in 2002 about the time NFI made it's turnaround. I may have invested in NFI back then, but I really wasn't that interested in divi paying stocks and I'm still not.

Here are a few of the reasons I'm here now.

1. Over-reaction
2. Oversold
3. Corporate Restructuring
4. Historically Low Interest Rates
5. Strong Liquidity
6. Low unemployment
7. Inflation in check
8. Obvious turnaround prospects/potential

Normally it's not smart to average down in average situations, but this is not an average situation. My most successful investments over the last five years
have involved situations very similar to this and I must say some of the other
companies appeared to be in far greater danger of failing than NFI.

What type of ill-advised (lack of) analysis is that? Falling knives cut. My reply to grahamcracker is germaine to that situation.

In particular:

When I'm making a play against the momentum, I want the momentum to be changing in my favor. I don't want to buy something dropping like a rock until it stops dropping. Likewise, I don't want to short something that is going up, up, up. Just because something is overvalued doesn't mean it wont get more overvalued. Waiting for the price to stop moving against your intended position is prudent. I'm not going to short a 100% buy no matter how overvalued it may be.

Whoever posted the reasons at the top of this post should have shorted the stock instead of buying it. Fortunately for those who like to profit in the market, people like that poster are around handing away their money to the more astute.

So you missed out on the unbelievable turnarund in the preferreds. What happened? You can check my math, but everyone knows the preferreds are up over 1,000% from their lows and up almost the same amount from my "average" cost of 1.50.

You're NOT STUPID, but you sure do a good job of playing DUMB!

Straighten 'em out grahamcracker aka wavb...I know you can relate...he...he

Some thought it was a strong buy at $4.05 .

Although the logic was flawed.

"Sign of a bottom?
Worst day in five years for banks and NFI is down just .12. I don't know what it's saying to you but I'm getting the message. Why else would I have bought at 4.05 today."

That price target of zero ended up only being 99.5% correct.
