Re So AA hit your mid $8's .

You might want to reconsider your buy point. I dont see institutions supporting this market until Greece is resolved. Their investment policy/strategy boards are just unlikely to allow increased equity exposure.

Re: New Lows

I count sixteen. I really need to start going short everything i am long. i count 16 of my tickers hit new lows today, and that does even count cousins. like BHP was on but i did not see BBL. and TEO was on, but i did not see NTL. and ATPG was on, but i have the bonds rather than the equity, but pretty sure the bonds hit a new low too.

I'm just watching AA for now. Earnings is 6 weeks away. I'm likely a buyer at the current price if AA is here a week before earnings. This is a stock I like to buy going into earnings and sell while investors are still focused on how well the company is operating rather than how poor the industry remains.

Someone I know pitched ASYS to me, and other than being cheap, I'm trying to see if there is anything to like there. It is of course on the list and has as bad technicals as you can find, a perfect 100% sell.

I happen to prefer NYSE over NSDQ. AMEX is place to find short candidates, not buys. Here is an NYSE list with no minimum. Of course, NYSE delists companies at low prices, so a price filter is not as big of a deal as it is elsewhere. This one is sorted by price which draws your attention to different places than a list sorted alphabetically. Different sorts wouldn't seem to make a difference, but I find each different sort changes the way you look at the data, always a good thing.

Even that powerhouse of Greek banking, NBG, hit a new low today. That is an example of how widespread these market difficulties have become.

Re ASYS .

That one would take balls of steel.

"The supply/demand imbalance for solar cells and modules continues to negatively impact the entire solar supply chain. As a result, the Company expects revenues in its fiscal 2012 third quarter ending June 30, 2012 to be in the range of $18 - $20 million. Gross margins are expected to be in line with or slightly higher than the second quarter of fiscal of 2012. Research and development expenses are expected to be significantly higher in the June quarter compared to the March quarter due primarily to the build of the beta version of the company's solar ion implant system. As a result, Amtech expects to incur a net loss in the third quarter.

"A substantial portion of Amtech's revenues are denominated in Euros. The revenue outlook provided in this press release is based on an assumed exchange rate between the United States Dollar and the Euro. A significant decrease in the value of the Euro in relation to the United States Dollar could cause actual revenues to be lower than anticipated.

The Company continues to invest in next generation solar technologies while also evaluating ...............

Or money to burn. Solar is a terrible industry right now, and it will get worse. Several countries including the US have been stimulating false demand for solar power through subsidies. Now that many of the subsidies have expired or changed to less generous terms, solar demand at each price point declines. Solar companies will not be buying new equipment to increase capacity under such circumstance.

Negative changes to the top line this year disproportionately impact the bottom line. Fixed costs remain unabsorbed.

What do companies often do shortly before their stock price crashes?

i read just now that China has excess plants that they don't bother to run as if they did the price of commodity would collapse. not sure i believe it. but it's worth investigating.

i have stated for a while that i believe FTR is a zero eventually. i stick to that view. CTL might also be in the same boat although they have done a few things that should allow them to survive.

ALSK at 12% yield maybe...

it's a message board not a court... he's allowed to Fib all he wants. folks have to decide for themselves if they believe what is written.

for example, i know there is someone who purposely picked a bad stock in a message board contest. that person fibbed when he said it was his best idea :-)

i don't agree with many of his picks but he's open about trading around his ideas and generally respectful. sure he gets his jabs in but so does everyone.

Re "someone who purposely picked a bad stock in a message board contest"

Yes that was Mr. Hyde. Dr, Jekyll would have never done it.

It was necessary to toss out some bait to catch a fish. Instead it caught a sucker.
It had to be done in my view given the circumstances at the time.
For those that disagree or chastised, that is fine too.

One can fib all they want and damage whatever credibility they came to the message board world with.
I would just suggest they dont leave a trail as their fibs are archived.
