I think think Microsoft's dominance demonstrates that you don't need the best technology to win. Marketing prowess and strategic maneuvering are the key ingredients while the underlying technology merely needs to be competent.

Jobs' genius was in focusing intensely on the user experience and not the specs per se.

put a 10% aapl stock position at the close.. It looks completely wash out now.. Earning probably don't matter much anymore and it will bounce 5-10% (me hope)..8-))

do you know what time they generally release earnings? i was waiting at the buzzer to catch them, thinking they would be right after 4, but no luck. i heard on bloomberg radio at lunch that they expect something like 37B in sales and $10 in earnings, a bit under the XO forecast. will be interesting to see how close your numbers are. i am not betting either way, but if i were, my money would be on XO over WS.

Went long apple stock, 10% portfolio weighting.. Still trying to figure out their number.. Ipad number is right on but I am way too high on Iphone number.. Earning is about right 8-))
