Rest assured, Trovan was not being used as a "last chance anti-biotic" and it was not marketed as a "last chance anti-biotic".

No comment on the error in my first sentence?
Of course PFE has lost a number equal to 50% of
it's current market capitilization, silly me--
folks make that error all the time. The loss was
of course about a third--and a gain of 50% is now
required from these levels to regain it's lofty
price.

There is an article at iionline today about the
valuation of Pfizer...here is the url:

iionline.com

I guess some bulls like it at $100...

The R&D budget is simply amazing, and that is not
a point lost on me as I muck down in third tier.
However, I will continue to slog around in things
which trade closer to book value, surely these
little biotechnology companies have to be a great
target for pharma in these hard times for biotech
financing. And while you hate to see all that paper
money deflate in the stock, pharma is still fabulously
rich.

Looks like my trading play on PFE has turned into a longer term play. Sure would like to start from this level. Not from where I'm at.
At least the 3 for 1 it will look more impressive.

There may be some more downside, European panel just reccommended that Trovan sales in Europe be suspended for a year. I'd see how PFE trades the next week or so while the market sells off waiting for the Fed to act.

James,

Time to buy is when there is blood in the streets! Does anyone remember Omniflox (Abbott) also a quinilone antibiotic? This product did the same thing, recalled and sales ended on it. ABT took a bit of a hit a couple years ago only to respond very nicely. All drug stocks are getting hit lately, has anyone noticed this fact?

We own 1500 PFE and will buy more it it approaches the upper $80's pre split. PFE's pipeline is the best in the industry and they have the least number of drugs coming off patent in the next 5 years.

Aging population, cheap share prices, best pipeline, best longevity of products, 3 for 1 split approaching, PFE employees buying into their 401K plans, employees just issued options to buy more. Don't let the analysts scare you out of PFE, I work for a competing company and own the same amount of shares as both!

You'll look back in a couple of months only to say should of, would of, could of at these prices. $At $33 post split this stock will be rebounding. Someone mentioned DIS stock - absolutely no comparison between a drug stock and entertainment stock like DIS! If you're looking to add a stock to your long term portfolio, PFE is my number 1 pick at these prices! Do your own DD. Analysts want to make money too and will shake you out to get your shares.

Good ADVICE..

Did not buy as a trade but as a long term hold. Did not think
I wanted MORE of PFE but if the price goes down enough it will
be worthwhile.. IMHO.... This stock is a LONG TIME HOLD and
will repay everyone within the next two year....handsomely..

I would have to agree with the message from Manly....this is a great time to be buying PFE.

" Aging population, cheap share prices, best pipeline, best longevity of products, 3 for 1 split approaching, PFE employees buying into their 401K plans, employees just issued options to buy more. Don't let the analysts scare you out of PFE, I work for a competing company and own the same amount of shares as both!"

I would also agree with John Dowd, that the "standard of care" for the medical community would be to not use Trovan as a first choice drug, to use this drug only in a hospital setting, and to use the drug only when other options have been tried. I think there has been too much overreaction to the news on Trovan.... a great time to buy PFE.
