Arms index and stocks above 50 day are two I have seen work well - no idea where they are now!

Earnings trajectory has changed. Market going up because expectations are for another change late this year.

To answer your question on PEs, I would probably pay a lower one than you (and lose money because of it!). But PEs of non-cyclical, non-finance companies are probably approaching 17x which is not low historically.

The question was a didactic set up to the valuation of BRK.

2/10/12 Contest Update
A breather for biotechs from their 2012 blistering pace was inevitable. So it’s not surprising both the Contest median and NBI dropped for the week. In particular, ARRY’s pricing of its secondary share offering at a substantial discount depressed the Contest median. ARRY is held in 12 Contest portfolios.
At Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 20.65% YTD (vs. up 22.78% YTD a week ago). In comparison, the NBI was up 13.86% YTD (vs. up 15.41% YTD a week ago), while the Nasdaq Composite Index was up 11.47% YTD (vs. up 11.54% YTD a week ago).
PGO’s portfolio remains in first place with a 38.16% YTD gain. GENE’s portfolio had a good week, moving into second place with a 34.89% YTD gain and helped by a 20% position in PYMX.OB, ROBERT’s portfolio, up 31.68% YTD, jumped into third place.
At Friday's close, all 38 Contest portfolios were still in the black with 28 of the 38 beating the NBI.
Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks ranked by % Gained and % Lost for the week (foreign stock prices are not converted to US$ in these two tables).
Portfolio adjustments: None
Have a safe & fun weekend biotechies!

Bulba,
As always, thanks for your work in managing this contest!

I don't want to make extra work for you....but...(smile)...if its not too much trouble...(grin).....er....
LOL

I was wondering if you could list the top 5 % gainers and losers on a YTD basis in the same fashion that you post the weekly winners and losers?

Just wondering....

No worries at all if that would be a hassle and, therefore, not worth the additional time!!

Best regards,

T.O.

Ok T.O.,
I’ll try to get to it. But please remind me again if I haven’t posted the YTD numbers within a couple of weeks.
Peace & good health,
Bulba

Bulba,
Please! Pretty Please! Please! Reflect the A-H price for (CORT)---I want to be first for once in the contest and the 40% jump might get me there. But this is a hard crowd to be in!
