Not quite so "virtuous" if compared to the Nasdaq Biotech Index, but still okay for sure.

1/27/12 Contest Update
The Roche bid for Illumina lit a fire under biotechs and Amgen’s munch of Micromet further pumped the 10 Contest portfolios holding MITI. At Friday’s close, the NBI was up 10.94% YTD (vs. up 8.32% YTD a week ago) and the Contest median was up 12.78% YTD (vs. up 7.99% YTD a week ago). The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 8.11% YTD (vs. up 6.97% YTD a week ago).
Another terrific week for PGO’s portfolio, which now leads the Contest with an astounding 30.61% YTD gain for just a single month. Not too shabby are the gains of second place BRAD’s portfolio, up 23.34% YTD, and third place DOUGH’s portfolio, up 21.82% YTD.
At Friday's close, 37 of the 38 Contest portfolios were in the black with 22 of the 38 beating the NBI.
Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks ranked by % Gained and % Lost for the week (foreign stock prices are not converted to US$ in these two tables).
Portfolio adjustments: None
Have a wonderful weekend biotechies!

Thanks to ROBERT and CHRIS08 for pointing out some errors in my data.
When CHRIS08 revised his portfolio on 1/6, I changed it on one spreadsheet but left the old symbols on my main one. His corrected YTD gain is 17.66%, which puts him No. 9 in the Contest.
In addition, my spreadsheets weren’t picking up the correct prices for ZGNX and ZIOP.
The above corrections changed a couple of places in the Top Ten ranking, adding CHRIS08 and demoting JIBACOA. See below for the corrected Top Ten list.
Finally, after the corrections, the Contest median stood at 12.82%, all 38 Contest portfolios were in the black and an impressive 24 of the 38 were beating the NBI.
Peace & good health,
Bulba

BULBA,

Those guys up over 28% in one month must be cheating.

27.338% is OK.

;-)

Seriously, those are stunning returns for one month.

Perhaps, we should all quit and call it a year.

Congratulations to the top 10 and those with good returns that can't even make the top 10.

I have a 63% gainer (ILMN), a 43% gainer (DSCO) and a 40% gainer (YMI), with only one in the red (MNTA), and I still can't crack the top 10. Unbelievable! Uncle.

Biggest gainers were stellar, while biggest losers were minimally in the red. Signs of a good market?
