Formal complaint seeks disbarment of Eric Holder in DC

Attorney General Eric Holder could lose his license to practice law in the District of Columbia, or face some other penalty from the D.C. Bar, now that he has been found in criminal and civil contempt of Congress.

Last week, the bloggers who first exposed Operation Fast and Furious, Mike Vanderboegh and David Codrea, filed a formal complaint with the Washington, D.C. Office of Bar Counsel alleging that Holder committed “professional misconduct” during the congressional investigation into the scandal.

Because Holder was found in contempt of Congress for his “refusal to comply with a subpoena duly issued by the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform,” Vanderboegh and Codrea contend, “t would appear that several, if not all of these rules [the D.C. Bar’s rules of professional conduct], have been violated.”

Wallace “Gene” Shipp in the Office of Bar Counsel told The Daily Caller that he can’t confirm or deny the receipt of any specific complaint.

Vanderboegh and Codrea each published the complaint they jointly registered on their individual blogs “ecause of the serious political ramifications involved, and because some on the Board may be sympathetic to AG Holder’s positions and hostile to those of the House contempt charges, and in order to ensure that this complaint receives proper attention and is not ignored through deliberate indifference.”

Arizona Republican Rep. Ben Quayle told TheDC he believes the D.C. Bar should investigate whether the attorney general violated its ethics code.

“I think an investigation is definitely warranted since it’s been brought to the bar’s attention,” Quayle said in a phone interview. “He has engaged in dishonesty and misrepresentation to Congress and I think it definitely warrants an investigation by the D.C. Bar.”

Quayle added that he doesn’t think Holder’s position as attorney general or his political clout should protect him from any investigation.

“He’s a member of the bar and just because he’s attorney general doesn’t make him above the law and above the bar association’s rules of professional conduct,” Quayle said. “I think his conduct in the investigation of Fast and Furious rises to the level of actually looking into whether he violated professional conduct with his conduct in the investigation.”

NAACP resolution calls Holder "one of the best attorney generals in history:"

On Tuesday, the NAACP unanimously passed an “emergency resolution” calling the bipartisan votes to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in criminal and civil contempt of Congress a “travesty of justice.” The resolution is meant for the NAACP to “express their outrage at the treatment of the first African-American and one of the best attorney generals in history.” As the resolution passed, Holder got rock-star treatment, walking around shaking the hands of many of those in attendance.

Lou Dobbs to interview the infamous trouble-making bloggers Codrea and Vanderboegh.

See David and yours truly tonight on Lou Dobbs discussing the DC Bar complaint against Eric Holder. I imagine we'll be the subject of a Rachel Madcow tirade on Friday night too. It's almost Pavlovian.
LATER: Sorry, I didn't post the time. It is 7:00 PM Eastern on FOX Business.

Even though the Obama/Holder administration helped kill over 300 people with guns, including American citizens,

gun control advocates have zero interest in getting to the bottom of it.

Rep. Issa: ATF Closing Ranks on Fast and Furious

Friday, 20 Jul 2012 By Greg McDonald
newsmax.com

Rep. Darrell Issa is accusing officials at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) of “closing ranks” in an effort to intimidate potential whistleblowers within the agency.

In an interview with Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren” Thursday evening, the chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee took issue with a recent ATF training video, in which he said agency director Todd Jones threatened “there will be consequences” if agents went outside “the chain of command” with complaints.

Without whistleblowers, Issa insisted, the problems with the controversial Fast and Furious gun-running operation within the agency would never have been brought to light.

“This is a thinly veiled threat, telling people: ‘Don't go to the press, don't go to Congress, even if the chain of command isn’t working,’ which is really what happened in Fast and Furious,” Issa said.“It wasn’t that ATF people weren’t screaming bloody murder. It’s they weren't being listened to by Justice or by some of their leaders.”

Agency officials have denied the video was intended to threaten ATF employees or that it was meant to keep secrets within the agency. But the California Republican and Iowa GOP Sen. Chuck Grassley have written to Jones asking him to clarify his comments in the video.

“Your ominous message, which could be interpreted as a threat, is likely to have a major chilling effect on ATF employees exercising their rights to contact Congress. Therefore it needs to be clarified,” the two lawmakers wrote. “You must remind ATF employees about their right to talk to Congress and provide Congress with information free and clear of agency interference or retaliation.”

Issa — who headed the push in Congress to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt for not turning over documents related to the Fast and Furious investigation — suggested the video was more evidence of what he considers was a cover-up within the Justice Department and ATF.

”When law enforcement closes ranks even when things are wrong, that is exactly what the American people are concerned about,” he said. “We continue to still be stonewalled post-contempt on any cooperation, even to get an answer from the U.S. attorney here in the District of Columbia as to whether or not he will proceed according to the statute on the contempt that was already voted by a bipartisan group of congressmen.”

Leftwing Reuters Promotes Eric Holder 'Justice' Dept

Justice Department
probes Pennsylvania voter ID law

WASHINGTON | Mon Jul 23, 2012
reuters.com

Leftwing Reuters) - The Department of Justice is investigating whether Pennsylvania's new voter identification law discriminates against minorities, according to a letter released on Monday.

In a step toward a possible federal lawsuit under the Voting Rights Act, the Justice Department sent a letter to Pennsylvania Secretary of the Commonwealth Carol Aichele asking for data on the state's registered voters.

Passed in 1965 during the peak of the civil rights era, the Voting Rights Act bans rules that make it more difficult for minorities to vote.

The Justice Department
will analyze the Pennsylvania data to determine if voters who lack proper ID under the new law are disproportionally black or Hispanic.

Pennsylvania's law will be challenged this week in state court by civil rights groups that say the law makes it too difficult for the general public to vote. If the law is upheld, a federal lawsuit alleging discrimination may follow.

Pennsylvania is one of 11 states to pass voter ID laws since 2010. The Republican-controlled state legislature said requiring voters to present ID at the polls will prevent fraud, while opponents say the law targets minority and elderly voters. The two groups vote mostly Democratic and are less likely to have valid ID.

The Justice Department has brought Voting Rights Act challenges against several other states for their voter ID laws. Lawsuits from Texas and South Carolina are pending.
