As Will durant prefaces his book on ancient Greeks: "They were our contemporaries."

Durant:

"The persistent effort to subordinate fancy to reason is the dominate quality of the Greek mind

Ergo, Greek literature is modern, or rather contemporary, we find it hard to understand Dante or Milton, but Euripides and Thuscydides are kin to us mentally and belong to our age.

This is because though myths may differ, reason remains the same, and the life of reason, makes brothers of its lovers, in all times, and everywhere."

If Michele Bachmann and other "conservatives" were truly conservative, then they would have supported President Obama's initiative to raise the fuel economy standards for vehicles sold in the U.S. Why aren't they into CONSERVing energy? U.S. gasoline consumption has dropped every year since 2009, despite a slowly growing economy. People are trading in low fuel mileage vehicles for higher fuel mileage vehicles. This is also getting people interested in buying new cars, since the fuel economy savings help pay for the car.

Well maybe she thinks that the fuel standards will make the cost of automobiles too high. If a car is available that gets 100 miles per gallon but costs two million and can only travel 10 miles before it needs to be charged, that is not much of a solution.

Because they are into CONSERVING lives, the only way to get fuel economy standards up is to make them smaller and lighter, which means death traps. What is it for every 1 MPG saved 10000 lives are lost every year
