Brad.. I see the icons now on my phone. It shows editor mode and
not raw text mode. The icons don't work (known) but the cursor works now!!
and I do not need to select RAW TEXT mode :o) so it's a win ...

Great to hear! Android is the one platform I didn't test. I think what happened to you was that all the new javascript was still in the process of loading when you tried to use it. Now that it's cached on your device, you probably won't have that problem again.

Yes, Android and iPhones will be better supported in the future, although iPhone will naturally get more attention, since that's what I use :)

I don't plan to create Apps for mobile devices, but instead make the built-in browsers work smoothly with the SI website. My goal at this point is to make sure mobile is minimally functional (i.e. not unusable) while I get my hands around detecting and tailoring the interface to best support them.

I bought a Xoom last year, but it stopped functioning. What Android device do you recommend I get for testing purposes?

A Nexus S... because that's what I have LOL Apparently the OS 4.0 is delayed (testing in certain locales) for my phone.. so hopefully ... but I guess that means you can test based on an Ice Cream Sandwich (OS 4.0) device..

I can't look at my phone as a phone anymore.. Phoning is probably the least used function.. I text a lot, email, GPS, trade and of course read SI :O) .

IMHO...An unsatisfactory feature of existing setup...When posts are edited within the 15-min timeframe....and such edits can be quite important......... no notice of that appears anywhere, and can be entirely missed by all interested parties...

PS...Easy solution, I guess, could be to eliminate 15min editing, forcing any corrections/edits to be put up as new posts...????...(such as this post...lol)

What sort of solution would you propose? Personally, I take it upon myself to indicate a revision, e.g.

Edit: Score now 21-7.

If after editing a post I see someone has already replied to it, I'll write another quick post to say "I edited my post".

Are you saying that's not good enough? That the onus should be on SI to indicate if a post is revised? The problem there is that I would bet 99% of all revised posts are because of typos you didn't realize you'd made, or incorrect syntax you failed to note, until you read them "live". Most posts are usually read >15 minutes after they were written, so even if a "revised" tag was attached it would be meaningless to most, not to mention most people, if asked, would reply "I corrected typos".

Or did I misinterpret your suggestion?

- Jeff

Here are 2 ways this could be implemented:

For those who Reply to a post, Blink an alert if the post is edited during the 15-minute window. The edit could occur during the Reply so you cannot measure from the timestamp of the Reply(or the timestamp of the Edit). This should Blink for a reasonable time >15 minutes because the Reply-er may have walked away or looked away from that thread or the SubjectMarks header.

For those who viewed a post, Blink an alert if the post is edited during the 15-minute window. The edit could occur during the view and I don't think SI stores who viewed a post so you need a different measure and message. This should Blink for a reasonable time >30 minutes because the View-er may have walked away or looked away from that thread or the SubjectMarks header.

These features could be Off by default but optionally set On.
