That's what I have been doing this year, moving back the bar for "too windy to ride" - usually glad I go out anyway, as long as I am not trying to do 25 miles slogging through the gusts.

Lovely day, 83F and light winds, added a tenth to my best sprint route average speed. Looking forward to a great riding summer to come.

The next five days will have me in Silver City, New Mexico for the Tour of the Gila races. I'm here with El Grupo, the youth cycling group I'm heavily involved with. Check out their web site elgrupocycling.org. I'll be at the feed zones handing out water and doing post race massage. Should be fun.

Overcast day, no wind, 70F, perfect for riding. Did my first distance ride with a 4-handle; dunno why anyone goes out and rides double that or more, they must be aliens or something. ;<)

Two cycling thoughts for the day after a beautiful ride on a trail overflowing with bikes and joggers and parents and kids and everybody out enjoying the perfect weather.

What are the odds of riding 22.42 miles in 1:22:42 and stopping at a red light at just that moment? Spooky.

And you know you are addicted to riding when the sound "Thwock...thwock....." turns you on.

I'm planning another rather large perimeter ride and was wondering if anyone here knows of an information source that gives prevailing wind trends for certain times of the year. There are two choices for the route, clock or anti-clock wise. The time of year and winds play a significant role in the decision of which way to go.

This is good for current wind. hint.fm

Keep clicking on the area of interest in and the map will keep zooming.

Our winds have settled down to normal after those weeks of disheartening 15-25 mph and up almost daily. Beating into winds like that take all the fun out of riding.

Oh, I almost forgot; it's not about fun. It's about pain and suffering.
