I can remember my dad carving his own butts.

Now that just sounds strange! LOL

He had the most beautiful guns and they were all very well used and lovingly cared for. He taught me how to shoot all kinds of weapons but I disappointed him in that I would never shoot a bird or any kind of animal.

You know why old guys like me don't have a bubble butt anymore? 'Cause we done scratched it off already.

(I stole that from Jeff Foxworthy. My wife keeps reminding me how right he was.)

I have a book on carving gun stocks, and it is a very beautiful art. I've done a little bas-relief carving, but I don't think I'm up to carving on a gun stock. This is a gun cabinet, however. (I apologize for the huge photos. Evidently sizing them in the SI submit window does not work.

Here's a stump that used to be a tree. Hundreds of little tiny seedlings sprouted all around it after I cut it down. It tore me up to pull them out, because I spent my life trying to get them to grow out in the woods.

Here's the supervisor, supervising from the shade.

That is some very impressive work! I can't imagine how long it took to carve the gun case....or the stumps, for that matter. Very nice!

Loved your supervisor too.

Excellent idea carving the stumps like that. Wish I'd thought of turning stumps into art when I had two 100' trees cut down a few years ago. I got tired of looking at them even though the arborist took them down as close to the ground as he could and eventually found a guy who has a stump grinder.

I'm glad you like it. I got the idea from a local artisan who carves bears and stuff out of logs. I'm not up to that.

The former owners of my house had trees removed and ground the stumps down. I'm starting to see depressions in the lawn where what's left of the stumps have rotted out. In one place I put my foot through a hole, which perplexed me until I dug it out with a shovel and saw that it was a former tree stump that had been ground down.

Ammo availability is huge for me.
The US military has a helluva lot more weapons that fire 5.56 than 7.62.

The 308 round is an old favorite. The first SF sniping rifle was designed by and the prototype was built by an SF Weapons NCO and fired that round.

But 7.62 is pretty widely available and cheap...

That's nasty stuff that could damage your barrel. Steel cased, berdan primed, not reloadable etc.

the price is directly related to the value.

but, if I was surrounded by Zombies and knew I'd shoot till the barrel melted and then threw the gun away........I stock up on this stuff.

I recently bought a bunch of this. What do you think of these cartridges?
